Do they make a key that can only open the door?

I do kayak fishing, but I don't want to lose my good set of keys. Is there a way I can have a door only key or one that opens the tailgate? I can keep the real keys in the truck in a safe.

I went to a locksmith and had what I call a dumb key (a blank metal key) cut to keep hidden on the outside on the remote chance the key pad on the door doesn't work. It will get me in the truck but will not start it. Hope this helps.

but idk if you have the keyless key fob deal (lariat) if the truck won’t lock if the key is inside the vehicle?? Key pad seems cool I just wish it was like the escape my parents have where it’s in the b pillar area of the door. Can’t see it unless you’re looking for it.

When I go kayaking I put my keys in a waterproof pouch and then put the pouch in a zippered pocket.

It's a way to Manually Lock Truck if: Power Door Lock Fails or Dead Battery, or Possibly if it will work Leave FOB in Truck for a day at Water Park and only take key blade with you. I did not test this though. But I seem to remember a post or video saying it could be done while I was researching trucks to buy

Individually Unlocking and Locking the Doors Using the Key Blade

If there is a power door lock fault you can use the key blade to lock and unlock the doors.

1. Lock.
2. Unlock.

Buy some of these (Amazon Link) Take them with your original key to a locksmith and have him cut you two spares. You'll be able to hide these and/or open the door via the tumbler with them.

I don't know what they mean - you need to remove the hitch safe if you want to use your hitch, but otherwise it is pretty straight forward. The only issue I had was losing the rubber cover and forgetting to put the slide back in before I left. You can buy replacement parts for it.

It takes like 30 seconds to remove it so you can use your hitch. Takes another 30 seconds to re-install it after you are done with the hitch. If you would be using a trailer when you wanted to store your key it obviously wouldn't be a good solution though.

I think you are referring to a valet key which will only unlock your doors but doesn't have a chip in it to start your motor.

I would suggest a small and convenient chip key as an extra key which can do both. I have this extra chip key for a backup which does not have the bulky Fob on it but can be used like your original OEM Fob key.

Then it will have to be cut and programmed. The key guy that did this for me recommended to bring all my Ranger keys so he could sync them together.

I put mine in a flash drive case and attach to a belt loop which I carry as a backup in case I misplace or lose my original Ford Fob key.

I bought 2 key blanks on ebay and had one cut at the ACE hardware. It opens the door and will turn the ignition to unlock for the steering wheel for towing but won't allow it to start unless programed.

Can you not unlock your vehicle per the app? I see that option every time I use it to start my truck.

to answer your question - Yes. Back in the Spring of 2020 I bought from and had the dealer cut a blade only which I keep in a case with a magnetic base on a cross member. (As noted by others, plenty of places to purchases a blade/blank key).
Just know that when unlocking the door, the horn beeps until you grab your fob and press a button.
My truck is a 2019 XLT FX4.
