I had the same "water spotted" rubber trim, esp. along the bottom of the door windows. Tried many Meguiars, Mothers, etc. products.

Look great! For a week or so.... Very temporary results

Found Carpro Perl, rubber looks shiny and black, has lasted way longer than the other products! Can be diluted for sprayer.

Enjoy!

What used to be black trim around the windows has now turned grey, almost white. I bought some "special" treatment to restore the black color and it did nothing. Any idea on how to bring the black back?

I use a regular kitchen-type Scotch Bright sponge and I mask-off the door directly below the window trim and the window itself with painters tape to prevent scratching. Give it a good scrub to remove all the gray, oxidized rubber, then hit it with your choice of restoration/preservation products. You've got to get rid of the oxidized rubber first for any of the trim products to work.

Sounds like a magic eraser might work, Or at least it's worth a try.

Mine faded like within 2 years even though I detailed my truck often and kept the trim protected. It seemed like the discoloration come from within and nothing with would bring it back to black. I got mine replaced under warranty.

My 2019 trim looked the same way this spring, the sun had bleached the hell out of it. I tried cleaning it, used 303 on it, black back and none made it look much better for very long. So to fix it I taped the door paint, the rubber on the top of the trim and lightly roughed it by wet sanding it with so 320 grit sand paper. I sprayed grey primer on it then a coat of satin black spray paint. Not quite like new but a far site better than before.

I had all 4 of mine replaced under warranty, they tiger striped, they faded with evenly spaced lines on them in a striped pattern, one side of my truck is always in the sun, the other side sits in shade most of the time, the shade side went first, then the other side about a year later.

I have to try some of that damper oil on these to keep them looking good:LOL:

? You've come to the right place.

Seriously though I've always used the Aerospace Protectant on all my rubber and plastic and have never had any issues. Even after 4 years in the brutal AZ sun/heat mine was still good. I started using the Graphene Nano Spray and that essentially does the same thing with its UV protection. Even my black roof moulding were still like new using the Graphene on them.

Does the graphene go on like the spay wax or is there a prep?

It's just like a spray wax and you can go over any other finish that's already on there. It is best to start fresh so I removed any old wax I had on there but it's not necessary.

You spray it on the applicator, wipe on in a crosshatch (side to side) pattern wait about 2-3 minutes and buff off. What's nice is you can coat all your plastic, rubber, headlights and windows with it. It's like Rain-X but much better and has high UV protection. Here's a thread I made with some videos in there.
