Differential and transfer case oil change

I changed all my fluids at the auto hobby shop on the local AFB. I asked the not so bright tool crib guy for a 3/8 torque wrench, and he asks, “What are you torquing it to?” “18 foot pounds,’” I replied. He says, “That’s just hand tight.” I said, ”Yeah I know that, thanks for the tip, now can I please have a torque wrench.” ?

29,200 miles, opened the fill plug, siphoned out the old diff fluid, cleaned off the magnet and replaced with new fluid. Fairly easy, wish it had a drain but was easy enough to siphon out. Added the recommended amount per the Owner's Manual.
