Uh oh, their engineers are now involved. Might be getting a completely new cover due to the safety catch issue.

I have to say, I’m pretty impressed with the responsiveness of Diamondback’s customer experience reps. This may end up being a huge pain but I’m still happy I chose a great company. The initial shipping issue wasn’t their fault, shipping options are limited and unfortunately ABF freight is the worst (I’ve had nothing but terrible experiences with them). The safety catch issue was a goof but the fact that they want to make it right is the smart and right move. Stay tuned.
I already have my Diamondback Cover in transit. Hopefully I won't have to send mine back too.

Mounted mine today. How in the heck did you get the locking rod on the driver’s side front panel to stay clear of that safety locking rod? I had to remove the safety rod. I tried different configurations, but nothing was working.
After reading what you said I double checked and noticed my locking rod wasn’t angled the way it should be. If I set it so the bend in the rod faced downward I was getting binding with the rod safety rod. I ended up angling the bracket towards the front of the cab but it leaves a pretty large gap with the bulkhead weather stripping.

With the rods in the angled down position they pull the cover down snug as they slide into position. I went a step further and put a 3-gallon bucket of paint on the each panel as I adjusted the rod mounts to give me a nice tight seal. After 24hrs with the seals compressed, the panels now close and lock easily. Maybe I’ll be an expert by the time I get the second cover installed.

Got mine installed! Works like a charm... I wasn't able to install my Thule Rack because I didn't realize I had to order "Feet".

I feel like the truck drives better with the 180 lbs on the back of it!

No problems installing the safety rod like @Randy2400h experienced?

Already testing the load capabilities of my HD cover. The LineX on it is tough as nails. Love it so far!

Looks great!
Did you have any issues with the locking rods/safety catch?
I did, the locking rod wouldn’t mount properly because of interference with the safety catch. I had to completely remove the safety catch. It functions just fine without it, but I really don’t want to see what happens when the front panel accidentally opens into the wind going down the highway. I brought it to Diamondback’s attention and they immediately got to work on the fix. FedEx delivers the new cover tomorrow and I’ll have to set-up the return of the old cover.

Whoa. That’s great to hear they are fixing it so quickly.
Keep us posted I’d love to hear how the new install goes.

Also, did you think about getting one of the crossbins?

I got the cross bin 13. It is an excellent size and leaves about 8 inches underneath to slide long items to the front of the bed. It’s excellent the way it is but I intend on putting a liner in the bottom to keep items from sliding as easy. I already covered the underside of the bin in dynamat (sound/vibration insulator) to quell any noise/chattering from items bouncing around inside, after all it’s a hollow aluminum box. I use the side bins to carry things like my ratcheting tie-downs, portable air compressor, and first aid kit. The center bin works well to hold large amounts of loose items or bags after a trip to Lowe’s, grocery store, etc. The bed of my truck is extremely functional now for my everyday use. I don’t have to worry about the security of items in the bed between errands around town. I’ve extremely happy with the set-up.

That’s exactly what I am hoping to get with this cover and the bin, great everyday functionality. That’s awesome.

Today it rained so I got to test the waterproof capabilities of the Diamondback cover.

Other than some small amount of water coming through the tailgate gap, it was very dry underneath the cover. No leaks from the front of the cover either.
