Seems like a ridiculous issue when I read some of the other stuff you guys and gals are going through with your Ranger but bothers me nevertheless. I want to replace with OEM part. It works fine but it is noisy now. Tried a couple things but it has had a better day. It is only on the left side. Anyone replace theirs yet?

It’s not so much the actuator, it’s the pressure it puts on the left hinge assembly , if you spray so lube on the hinge it quiets the noise.
This is (1) drawback of having it installed and the rub spot on the support cable getting pinched.

There is no "OEM" part.
Noise is most likely coming from the tailgate hinge 's.....the rubbery/plasticy piece. Spray them down with some silicone or even WD40, or any spray lube.

Oh I though it was stock on the truck which is why I figured OEM. I'm going to give the spray another try and be a bit more generous. ;)

So this time I was generous with the lubricant and the rub squeaky noise is gone.
So thanks for the replies. The damper is actually working fine.

And now that the DEE ZEE CEO is in Arkansas it will sound like a pig squealing when it needs to be lubricated. However, you will know in advance when the squealing is going to start because you will hear what sounds like a banjo being played.

Hello,
I installed a deezee tailgate damper about 6 months ago and have not had much problems with it at all. During the winter I did notice it squeaked a little but read it was due to the temperature. Over the last few months the noise hasn’t gone away and the squeaky noise has gotten louder and worse I’ve tried wd40 but don’t know what else to do does anybody have any recommendations? Thank you
You got a Friday damper...just buy another one on Monday...it's cheap enough...mine's been flawless for the last 130K miles...

Retired, work is a four letter word.
I can vouch for Dave's solution...it is the plastic bushings.
I shot some Dri Lube in mine several weeks ago...still quiet. :like:
Yep, I used the slide lube for my M/H (dry-lube), worked fine.

Mines working great and quiet.
Just needed to get the lubricant in the right spot.
