our truck makes a little servo/solenoid noise followed by a high frequency whine for a second, typically after unlocking it or opening the door, and sometimes it does it every ten minutes or so when the truck is off, key out, and nothing going on. anyone know what this odd noise is? its coming from under the hood, somewhere.

just curious

It's the fuel pump priming. There was a previous discussion about it here.

thanks. sorry i missed that thread.

but why does it prime and reprime with no activity? we were sitting next to the truck camping and it must have done it ten times in an hour and a half with no activity.

IIRC it's pre pressurizing the system. There were a few different threads about this but I don't remember all the details. My Tacoma use to do the same thing. When I first got it I was out in the garage and it was making all these weird noises and I just figured it was possessed.
