So for a few weeks now my auto lock/unlock on my rear doors stopped working, then my parking sensors would beep in a different chine well i went to move my truck the other day and its dead. The dealership will be more expensive so I might as well do it myself. I would like to get an optima battery, but it looks like all the attachments that my truck has on the positive side wont fit because of the plastic pieces around the terminals. Is anyone running the yellow top optima in their truck?

Our battery’s are not the norm anymore. They are AGM group 48/610 CCA. They come in different sizes though and the upgrade is Group 94R/800 CCA.

Another thing many are not aware of is our default factory setting for charging battery is 75% of full capacity. It can be changed in Forscan as some of us have done. I bumped mine to 90% about 8 months ago with no detrimental effects yet. Supposedly it gives battery longer life with the decreased headroom.

If you want an Optima battery your choice is limited XL/XLT Optima DH6 part number Lariat DH7 part number but last time I checked they were $300+.

Not sure if that reasoning holds true anymore. Especially if Ford price matches as they do with tires.
But isn't the battery covered under warranty? From Ford website:

Ford's original vehicle batteries are covered for recharging and replacement during the first 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first.
Are you sure it's a battery problem and not a charging problem?

The battery in my Chevy Volt would show "full" charge at 90% and empty at 35% I think. That's the supposed sweet spot for battery life. It was also liquid cooled (and warmed in winter) as heat is the enemy, but I saw no discernable degradation in the 6.5 years I drove it throughout many charge cycles. I think 75% SOC is a little low and the next time I hook up ForScan I will adjust to 85-90%.

Well looks like another dead battery to post about. Went out to start truck to haul some yard waste to the drop off site, stone dead, nothing. At least I have a couple months of warranty left. Granted it has been almost 2 weeks since I drove it (been out recovering from COVID). Has not given me any problems until this, have had the occasional warning about things shut down to conserve power. But really stone cold dead?

Need to call dealer and hope they can get me in. ?

Lithium batteries like it between just below full and above actually dead. My phone has a battery life extension mode that is a bit annoying that sets it to fill and zero around the same charge points as your Volt.

Not exactly the same as what lead acid batteries want or need. That said.. without tabbing over to Google I don't know what makes them happy other than not being hot..... As most sit under the hood.

I was away for a week and my battery was completely drained...my fault for leaving the siren/PA on but I thought the smart logic was suppose to shut off power entirely to protect/save power for starting?
