I very much prefer the European mirrors. There was a company in the U.S. that made them but I am unable to find them now. Out of business perhaps.

They are flat about 80% of the way from the inside to the outside with the last 20% curved so there are no blind spots. Some have a fine line from top to bottom that separate the two segments. The first time you look t them you go whoa, what the... But from then on it's a very natural adjustment.

With the small stick-on mirrors or those such as those on my RS I have to focus once, then focus again IOT fully use the small mirrors.

There may be a legal reason why they are not available in the U.S. but given a choice they are worth every penny.

I had a set of those mirrors on my '99 Passat, loved them.
Here's an example of aspherical mirrors

I've been debating getting a set of the nxtgen mirrors, but after driving the Edge this past weekend, which has similar blind spot mirrors, not sure. It is an adjustment to use the blind spot mirrors and I don't really focus on what is there, just a glance to see if something is there. And the Ranger mirrors are huge compared to the Edge. Having towed for years without them, I may just skip these and see if I can find the aspherical mirrors for the Ranger.
Besides, good exercise to turn my head to look over the shoulder.

My .02 cents since we’ve had both and I’ve always had trucks!

Many years ago my wife had one of the first model Audi A3 hatchbacks when we first met. She had just got it CPO around when we met and she absolutely hated the car because the mirrors were ‘weird’ making her feel kind of disoriented and motion sick.

I thought she was crazy, but she kept talking about it so I drove the car and she was actually right ??. She brought the car back and it turns out the original owner had put the European spec aspherical mirrors on. The dealership swapped for the regular mirrors and it was much more comfortable.

Being in the trades, I’ve always had a truck and this is my first non-full size. Everything new takes a little getting used to but in my experience over the years here are my takeaways:

1) Despite a wider view, there is a reason why all cars are not equipped like this stateside. Having the whole mirror like this vs a portion has as many trade offs vs the wider view.

2) Trucks and other larger vehicles should have convex mirrors, especially if towing. There is also a good reason why every commercial has a good pair.

3) These NXTGEN ones going on the bottom is great. I’ve had plenty of Ford trucks with the OEM spot mirrors that are good but these are better. Getting that lower visibility on a taller vehicle is much more valuable than lots of sky. Also a good reason why said commercial vehicles not only have spot mirrors, but on the bottom, like Super Duty mirrors.

The flashing amber light in the corner of the mirror is great, but you still can't always see and judge what's coming. I don't like relying on whether the light is flashing or not when making a lane change. You could have a fast approaching vehicle coming that is not setting off the BLIS. Can't wait to get these installed.

Last ride and my one ton came with them stock. Just ordered them for the ranger. Thanks for the link and discount code.

BLIS or not.. I like to see what is around me in Houston traffic. Even with properly aligned mirrors... these people find new and interesting ways of sneaking up on you from 4 lanes over at mach 5.

Non issue! It got super cold here in NC when I got mine so I nuked these things with my wife’s crazy hair dryer (didn’t want to go full heat gun on plastic when installing). Did not melt at all but they are on there now like crazy. I think most adhesives have a temp range well over 100 degrees
