This is my second time trying to order a replacement mirror for my driver's side after it was absolutely destroyed. The first mirror was through OEM ford parts online and I had to return it due to the OEM screws not going in all the way. The second time I decided to order it through ford.com because surely they couldn't mess something like this up. To my surprise the mirror had no threads at all for the screws to go into. I could have forced the first mirror to fit but the screws are made of such soft metal it was already stripping from trying to remove them initially.

Has anyone had this issue with these side mirror assemblies? When I do get an actual non-defective mirror, what screws have y'all used in place of the OEM screws [W715794S437]?

Haven’t had this issue but I would try tapping them until they bottom out. Or maybe cut the screw if it’s too long? Like I said, haven’t dealt with this issue on my ranger but with my line of work I’m constantly dealing with messed up screw threads, botched factory taps, long screws, etc… I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve had to cut and re-thread screws or re-tap holes. Shouldn’t be too hard if you have the right tools and hardware.

I ordered one through Amazon. Same deal the holes aren’t threaded. Returned and reordered 3x all the same. I emailed the actual company and they’re clueless on what I was telling them and told me to talk to the Amazon seller.
End of it all I just threaded the posts on my own.

I think that's what I'll end up doing. Had the dealer order another mirror and it's the same. They told me to tap it myslef.

At least it’s an easy solution, strange that they produce them without the tapped threads - cost cutting I assume
