I’m sorry to hear all the mess this has caused for the OP (and others?).

But I can’t hold my tongue on this one. “Tuning” an off the shelf, very average engine and its related electronics on your “everyday driver” seems rather foolish, right?
There have been many here (I'd guess in the hundreds) who have tuned our trucks with Livernois and had zero issues. Never mind the thousands on the F150 and Mustang forums but I'm not on those so I don't know the failure numbers there. IMHO what's foolish is Livernois not taking care of this 2 years ago. Sorry Livernois many of us are very happy with your tunes but I now question the customer service I'd receive IF I had a problem. I'm sure many others are now also. I think you've seen I've been a huge advocate of your tune on here and chose it over Unleashed but I have to say I am disappointed to see the lack of CS on this one.

Honestly, I'm neither expecting nor requesting them to do anything.

I'm just recounting my experiences with it.
I'm sorry you are having issues, I can assure you there is something else going on causing this issue and I'd be happy to help you resolve it. I'd love to answer every question asked here in the past 24 hours but there is a lot. Are you able to call me at 313-561-5500 ext 123.

Typically this is from noise in the canbus system. Something like auto headlights coming on, a battery tender plugged in, aftermarket stereo system, bluetooth device picking up, or even as simple as a charger plugged into an outlet. Every module has to go to sleep when it's programming so if it senses any draw on the system from something like mentioned above it sees that and immediately fails the flash. Again I'd be happy to help so please call me as soon as you can.

Thank you

Actually as a nerd I would never use a gaming device or lo-power device like a Chromebook or Raspberry Pi to flash the EPROM's in a vehicle. I would stick to a mainstream unit like a Mac or something with a fast processor and win10, and better USB port and driver. As you found it doesn't take much to brick an EPROM.
It depends on the "gaming" laptop. I have a MSI Stealth GS-65 that I use for about everything, flashing, running races (Orbits/Axware) and all. i7-8750H Intel processor, 64GB of ram and a couple NVMe drives in it. It just works. The only issue is the ethernet adapter does not register a connection after the device is loaded, so if it's on when I connect that cable, I have to restart the laptop, or disable and reenable the network adapter. A PowerShell script is a quick way to do that though. I didn't really buy this laptop for gaming though, I bought it because I could run VM Ware Workstation Pro on it and bring my work VM with me on trips and the work without the VM feeling slow and clunky. I sometimes think the VM Ware network devices are what cause the network connection issues when connecting it after the system is fully loaded.

By that logic, so is performing any modification to your vehicle.

People spend money on what makes them happy.

To call someone foolish because they don't spend it where you think it should be spent seems rather foolish, right?
Not calling any “one” person foolish, basically calling everyone foolish that would electronically modify the programming of an engine / ECU of any modern stock / consumer market engine.

Not really a “gaming laptop” or low power device is it. More like a full blown work laptop. I also use a 6 core i7 MSI m/b based computer mostly for gaming, but it’s not a “built for” gaming, just fast enough with a high end video card that works well for the demands of gaming.

Glad you stand by your words.
I tuned my BRZ, I'm foolish & ok with it.
No better or worst then any other mod. ?
Glad to see OP is being looked after.

Well, I'm really gun shy of doing anything electronic with mine. I thought I wanted to make FORScan changes before I got it, but not so much now. I suppose adding the Remote-X introduced some risk and I made the assumption it would be okay, but it wouldn't surprise me if it did something that I may, or may, never realize.

For example, the truck, from what I understand, is supposed to sleep for eight hours to do something or other. So when I plug it into my battery tender, is it preventing it from doing that?

All I know is that the old days of fixing it on the side of the road are long gone. For me anyway.

Yeah, but for about half the price of an equal "business class laptop".

I'd contact Livernois an see if they would exchange the programer.

I've changed the tune a few times without issue. Put the high octane tune in. Took it back to stock for a service visit. Put the high back in. When gas shot up put the lower octane tune in. No issues.

Shoot them a message.
I have to do this on my RV, but not the Ranger as the Ford tune is authorized by Ford and 50 state complaint. I do remind the service writer to NOT flash the ECU, and I have a 'Do Not Flash' cap over the OBD port.

Of course you are, just splitting hairs now, so by that logic you must have not done ANY modifications to your truck at all, because Ford knows best what you need or want. What about my Ford authorized tune that is 50 state compliant? was I 'Foolish' to install that for better shifting and more power?
