Got in the truck after loading some stuff in the back seat and the bed an took off. When I hit the brakes a cricket noise showed up. Me.. after dealing with the loose bed mounting bolt and the ebrake junction noise... Maybe a steering wheel poping thing was about to flip out on this under 10k miles truck having some annoying issues that I never experienced with my last few Korean cars.

I finally get to where I can take a look to see if I can figure out this new noise..... And it happened again with the truck stopped.

Moment of pause....

It was an actual cricket that started chirping when I was on the brakes. Happy to say the little guy was safely removed from the frame rail unharmed. Hope he likes his new home.

Back to happily driving a non-weird noise making Ranger. Also feeling a bit dumb but he only chirping during braking was... Odd.

End of silly story.

Good thing it wasn't a meow sound.
I recently spent a week explaining to my 4 year old I didn't murder a lizard after he saw one crawl up my tire 12 hours before I drove it again. A cat... I would never hear the end of it.

I killed a spider last week as it was chilling on the hood of my truck.
Later found out that spider type was actually super friendly and helpful for humans. One of them "cute furry" spiders..

Been bothering me in the back of my mind since, so I can relate.

Now it has grasshoppers on it to make noise. At least I couldn't hear this little guy..... Yet.

Bugs love this truck. I 80% of the time I have a spider behind the fuel door thing.

Increase your following distance! that was an OEM Ford braking assist cricket. They help stop the truck by rubbing their hind legs against the brake disk

Hi Patrick,

That is a first for me! Being an NVH technical specialist and having seen so much, never a live cricket...

Best,
Phil
