Maybe I'm way overthinking this or misunderstanding. Can I set my system to have fresh outside air flow through the floor and dash vents without being heated or cooled? Just good ol' ambient temperature air for nice temperate days where I just want some extra circulation by my feet and such?

It seems I can't have the fan running without the system monitoring the temperature and either metering in heated air or the air conditioning kicking in and cooling the air.

I guess at the end of the day it doesn't really make a difference as long as the temperature is comfortable. Would just be convenient during the more moderate times of year to not have to be selecting a specific temperature all the time.

By the way I have the XLT with the large touch screen and dual climate control.

dude, I'm with you. I kinda wish my truck had the basic A/C controls. I understand them better.

I'm not sure what's better Auto or A/C. And when I set it to auto, if I turn the truck back on, it changes to A/C by it's self. Too smart for me lol.

I believe if you turn auto on, but keep the ac button off, you will get just fresh air or heated air.

My recent experiences seem to agree with this. I press the auto button, turn temp down, and turn off the AC.

I THINK that Auto, at least in mine, is just fine? I keep it at Auto with AC on...and I keep my temp around 65-70. Of course I run way too hot and love my COLD AC. :p

So far, I'm loving this auto climate control. The way it behaves matches my sense of things, anyway. Not sure how my wife is going to react to it in the long term, though. In her car with more traditional climate control systems, she CRANKS the a/c or heat when she first gets in and then adjusts it well after it becomes uncomfortable to me in the opposite extreme. If I touch it prematurely, she gets grumpy. I'm HOPING that the auto climate control negates her extremes. It seems to adjust the temp a little bit quicker than it'll adjust the fan speed.

I'm with the OP on this one. There are times I just want to open the windows with ambient air flowing from the vents. I think the posters are correct a/c off and temp down is the only way to do this as system off seems to shut off air flow from the vents.

Ugh.... It doesn't appear there is a way to select only outside air. The "system" knows better than thee... :headbang:

Turn a/c and auto off, set temp to minimum, fan to however you want it.

No different than old school mechanical controls of yore. A/C off, temp slider to full cold

This is correct, and if you bring your A/C controls up on the display you can direct the air to the feet, vents or both and then modulate the fan speed for however much air you want. The system is either full Auto or you can manually manipulate it anyway you want. :like:

Thanks for all of the suggestions. Seems to make sense.
