Where are you coming up with this nonsenseI do have another (just out of curiosity) thing to try as I am hearing something that sounds like plastic (clicking)
Select the Climate Control (Off) and also try system on but (AC-Off) and then note if the same noise exists.
It may be possible that you are hearing the Temp Actuators clicking @ WOT the AC Compressor Clutch disengages and you may be hearing a feedback reaction from it
This would explain (As I understand) the noise only exists when the pedal is @ WOT and is not present when gradually accelerating.
Another thought is that the sound is actually the AC Clutch rapidly cycling off and on, a possible slightly undercharged system may produce that.
Just a Theory.
D&O of the AC SystemWhere are you coming up with this nonsense
Noted: and AcceptedAgain I apologize. I appreciate the feedback
Is it me or does the check engine light flash at the exact same time as the noise ?I do not hear a Rev Limiter -That would be a (Pulsing Rev), normally anyways I am not sure for Drive By Wire systems.
The engine itself does not miss a beat and continues to climb in RPM, so with that I will say its not the Rev Limiting feature.
I possibly hear the following:
Voltage (instability) across a module at that point as there is a small audible (Click) at the very beginning,
a. Possibly the DC/DC Convertor also known as the Voltage Quality Module
b. Possibly the Accelerator Pedal, I think with the noise - you would feel a vibration in the pedal
So a position/feedback issue, this may be a type of Rev Limit
Mechanical Possibilities:
a. With engine under full load - engine rocking sideways just enough to stress the exhaust system
and cause one of the heat shields to pick up the vibration - sound enhances under the floor into the cab.
b. High and Fast flow of coolant through the Heater Core and creating a turbulence in the heater core.
c, Freon flow disruption through the Evaporator as the AC Comp Clutch disables at WOT, should be able to eliminate by disabling the climate control (For Test Elimination)
d. Fuel Flow - Disruption - in the fuel line between the tank and the HPFP, the fuel line runs along the frame rail. With no engine running issues, this would be last on my list of possible causes.
By the sound - I am leaning more on (Mechanical - A or B)
You know - I MISSED that, well that eliminates most of my original theories, but with that along with the By-Pass Valve sound being posted , this only points to either it or the turbo wastegate. Is it me or does the check engine light flash at the exact same time as the noise ?
Have you checked for DTCs? A flashing check engine light usually means a severe misfire.I think I got a pretty good recording of the noise I have.
Is it the rev limiter kicking in?
Ranger is garbage so disappointed in this truck
2 years to fix the EGR issue and now this
