I'm still averaging over 24 mpg from the day I picked the truck up. That's pushing 3300 miles now. So i'm averaging better than the highway rating for my all around driving. Best mileage on a trip to the Gulf with a kayak in the bed was 26.7 mpg. I pulled a dual jet ski trailer this past weekend with a lot of gear (2 kayaks) and still got 20.5 mpg with all the additional weight and the wind drag from the trailer. No complaints or concerns from me. :)

Maybe this is a bit more conclusive as far as it being a bit below average: https://www.fordf150blog.com/2019-ranger-real-world-fuel-economy/

But I bet you'd find that for just about any vehicle and they don't all have lawsuits attached to them. I bet at the end of the day it's totally possible to attain the numbers, it just takes driving like you have a raw egg under your foot and doing things like going 65 mph on the highway (in a 70 or 75).
I can assure you 22.X is possible in everyday driving without too much trouble. I don't necessarily drive it like I stole it, but I've never been known to be a conservative driver. I still get 22-23mpg when not towing anything driving from the mid thumb of Michigan to Southfield Michigan every workday. (mix of stop and go, construction, and open country highway with about 4-5 miles of I-75 108 miles round trip in total)

I should add I have 7100 miles as of today.

My MPG has been pretty spot on as well in the first 3,000 miles.

My Lariat SuperCab 2WD is getting between 23.5 and high 25 mpg around town with only 1400 miles on it. I haven't had it on a trip yet. I am very happy!

I have no problem doing better than the EPA, this was a round trip to Albquerque, from Artesia, NM. Driving 70 to 75 mph, on hwy and interstate, through several small towns, one medium size town, and city driving in Albquerque. If they wish to send me money back that’s fine tho! The Fuelly for this trip was within 3 tenths. And start stop is disabled!

Thank you, At 1000 mi, I put in Amsoil Synthetic. The synthetic probably helps some, you think?
I have 7100 miles now, I "only" used Mobil1 and I also have no trouble getting at least the EPA rating in a major city without doing the speed limit very often. (open to interpretation) I don't get 25mpg, but have when I was actually trying to be economic.

After a 400 mile road trip doing 55/65/75 mph my dash read 25.2 mpg. Calculated by hand once I filled up and was at 22.5 mpg. Not terrible but I don't think the dash reading is too accurate

There's a calibration procedure for the DTE calculation, and possibly the MPG calculations. I saw someone post it on this forum earlier this week.
