A few points from my 160 mile drive home;

Interior: I'm not sure if has something to do with how they shaped the interior, but the inside cabin feels WAY more roomy than current Ranger, especially the passenger side. The driver side is a bit more confined due to the "walls" of the middle console area. I also forsee some vinyl wrap work is going to be taking place to get the colors more uniform. I'm not sure who got to choose the colors for various panels, but they need to go back to art school. There are like 4 or 5 different colors going on. Black, silver, gray, camo, yellow, tan, etc etc across the various panels.

However the gauge cluster and infotainment center are pretty friggin awesome.

Motor response; At least in normal drive modes the gas pedal is exactly like my Ranger was from the factory and I am going to look into an e-throttle device as soon as they become readily available. The power is there, it just feels leashed down due to the pedal response. Brake pedal is very firm unlike the Ranger

Color; sand dune metallic, I was worried how "glittery" it was going to come of as in direct light. Thankfully the metallic is very subtle in this paint color. You can see it if you get right up on it, but at a distance it looks like one of those flatter colors you see a lot of companies releasing in their specialty gray paints. I love it.

Ride; drove like a champ very smooth.

Seats; felt pretty standard, no better no worse than the Ranger.

Other; unlike a lot of people this is my first time buying a "top tier trim" for a vehicle, so its going to take some time to get use to all the extra doo-dads and features. Like switching between adaptive cruise and normal cruise. Just a lot of small things to learn.

Honestly I hope you stick around, or at least tell me what forum your going to, I want to see what you do with this.
I guess I could create a new build thread and call it "Not a Ranger Build". Don't know how site staff would feel about a zr2 guy just hanging out in his old stomping grounds kind of thing.

We're all mad you have to work this weekend as well.

We want updates!!

And pics.

And a few more pics.
I already have some 8020 parts arriving tomorrow so I can begin work first thing on Monday.

First order of build is to de-sticker and de-badge everything.

Glad you made it back home with new ZR2.
Looks even better in your garage.
Good thing the track isn't any wider. She just fits between the shop floor area.

Please keep us informed.
Which Colorado forum will you be posting to?
Yea my parking deck is a pretty tight squeeze, I am probably going to take off and rip those edge decking pieces in half to give me a little more wiggle room.

I am on ColoradoFans.com - but seeing as Chevrolet finally got their ass in gear to be competitive in this market the traffic is still pretty low for the 3rd gen sections.

Surprised the Ranger didn't raise a wheel and squirt brake fluid on the new ride :explode:

I was/am a member there when I was looking at Colorado's a few years back
I'll get back on there and look for you.
Might be joining you in a year or so, who knows. Waiting on Toyota before I do anything.

Also not a great pic, but snapped this at dealership through window.

You know, that bed looks kinda high.

Maybe a factory defect that wasn't caught before it was too late...

Regarding the "dimples" in the fender flares, some vehicles use those as anchor points for a tie down for something like a canoe mounted on the roof.

Are they reinforced behind there?

So before getting ready for work I went out to garage to test a few things. As suspected my RCI cab height bed rack will fit no problem with just minor adjustments in the width adjustable top bar.

I am hoping by the end of Tuesday to have the bed rack & 8 pod storage reinstalled. However I want to get some fresh paint on these items while its disassembled and scrub a few things down real good. The new platform top rack is going to be made from a new design using t-slotted extruded aluminum, so it will be a little bit as that gets fleshed out, but at least I'll have half the system back up and running in short order.

Since this thread has deviated quite a bit from its original focus (ordering a Raptor) and is now discussing a non Ford/Ranger product, any further discussions should be handled in a new thread in the General Automotive (Other Vehicles) forum.

@OFC Ranger you are free to start a new thread there to discuss your mods to your new ZR2.

Thanks for understanding.
