i have been using this combo on my other vehicles and never have nay issues.

i read some other threads here and lots of people like mobile 1 oil- i don't as i had a bad experience with it way back with a noisy engine afterwards.

valvoline seems to do my other vehicles well. any gotchas for using it? it meets the ford spec in manual and as far as the mobile 1 filter, any issues there?

Should be fine.

I would be just as happy with a Motorcraft filter which is what I’m switching to from the Mobil filter. No real reason but I like the idea of running the Ford filter.

I wont argue that Valvoline is one of the top oils. My suggestion is to go with full synthetic over the conventional. Why you ask? Because ford minimum specifications state synthetic blend. Also I would just use the Factory Motocraft Oil filter. It is relatively inexpensive and readily available at most auto parts stores!!

"Any" oil approved and rated for your vehicle should work just fine. IMO, how you operate and maintain your vehicle has much more long term affect than the oil of choice.

Valvoline synthetic is a very good oil. Mobil 1 filters have synthetic media which is supposed to be more durable than paper media that's in most filters including Motorcraft, on the other hand the holes in the Mobil 1 filter are smaller than the ones in a Motorcraft so I don't know that the flow is as good. If you're changing the oil every 6000 miles or less then the Motorcraft is perfectly fine. I use a Mobil 1 filter and Pennzoil Platinum oil in my daughter's Fiesta since she moved out and I don't see the car as much so it gets the oil changed once a year and 10,000 miles. Used oil analysis was perfectly fine.

Alls I know is that I ran Pennzoil Platinum and Motorcraft filters on my old Sport Trac, changed religiously every 5000 miles from new until 212,000 miles and it still didn't use any oil and none of the timing chain issues that people complain about.
