Capless fuel filler looking strange, normal?

With the pump in the hole…..it pushes the rubber creating a gap/hole as in pic. The rubber actually comes out from behind the capless plastic piece and I was tucking it back in at the bottom. Might be normal but figured I’d ask around.

Not what mine does/looks like. Seems as though it's not fully secured in the housing. Time to visit your friendly dealer!

I just tried tucking it in and I can get the rubber tucked in all around it until the top as it shows in pic. When I tuck in the top area it’s too much rubber and bunches. But now it’s at least pushed in and somewhat tucked at top and when I pull down on it, the hole isn’t that big anymore. Hope they don’t have to tear anything apart to deal with it. I have not had good luck with ford dealers here. Every time I visit them they mess up in some way.

It needs to be pushed back into the grommet...looks like at box deck the filler got pushed too far out into the fuel pocket. Not sure if it is an easy fix or if the dealer should address... If it were mine, I would try to reseat the fuel filler neck into the grommet and if a no go....off to the dealer to fix....
What is with Michigan Truck Plant??? This is a delta inspection item and never should left the plant this way...

Thanks for the reply’s. Such an odd area. I can get the bottom tucked into clip things but not top. Can’t get the right leverage. I hate that a lot of us are scared to have dealers do work on our vehicles. I think I will ask them how exactly this is to be fixed so I can know just what will be taken apart. Not sure what issues this will cause having it like this but it’s there for a reason….

As a follow up on this I had to go to the dealer for something else and mentioned this. I was told the tremor has a different set up then the other rangers for the fuel filler area. They compared to other non tremor rangers on lot. I have rubber in this area and they have plastic. They did say looking up parts it all shows all rangers are the same.?? Service guy said what I have is normal and that’s the way it should be…… but they did put on the service sheet I was handed that I had asked about it and that all is normal. This way if some issue comes up with it I have a record. He did mention I could order the whole setup but it’s expensive and a lot to take apart. I said why bring this up if all is normal & if it’s not normal it would be under warranty.. he said yes of course. All this was typical dealer speak & not sure what to believe. Also add this to list of differences with the tremor if true.

More dealer service dept. "just say whatever to appease the customer" BS. I have a regular 2020 xlt "poor people edition" and it has rubber around the filler housing just like yours.

I'd get a second opinion from another dealer.

I took a picture of my '21 Tremor XLT just for reference. Yours definitely does not look right.
