Be aware with a Cold Air Intake Box. Think about where you will be taking the truck. If you travel on a bunch of Dirt Roads, I would stick with the Factory Air Box and OEM Air Filter. It will do the best when it comes to keeping the intake air clean from Dirt, Dust and other Debris making sure the Turbocharger and Engine don't get damaged from such.

You won't get much performance boost from the pipes, which is kind of surprising when you see how janky the stock hot side pipe is.

You won't get it from the intercooler either unless you're heat soaking the stock one.

I wasn't interested in more turbo noise and haven't really noticed it (suppose the exhaust system covers it up ? ) but it seems that the aftermarket intercooler pipes might indeed accentuate it. Maybe it's one of the reasons the stock Ford piece is like it is.

The intercooler arrived today! Crazy fast shipping, it looks like it shipped from a warehouse nearby. I have tomorrow off so I plan on spending the day getting it installed. Anything I need to know, maybe tips or tricks from someone who has installed one themselves?

After most of the day I have the new intercooler and charge pipes installed. Only thing disappointing about the ESP kit is that it was missing a band clamp. I was able to use one off the stock pipes. The quality of the band clamps also wasn't great but the rest of the kit worked really well. New air box will be here in about an hour so after I get that slapped on I'll take it for a little drive to make sure everything is good

Looks good, and I do recall being shorted a band clamp on mine too. One note, make sure the sensor wire for the hood latch is zip tied up near where the latch itself is. I got mine almost all the way back together before i realized mine was hanging down near the bottom of the intercooler... i was able to fish mine back up without tearing everything apart, but now is a good time to make sure its accessible for later.

Welp, I wanted more turbo noise and I got it! It almost sounds like the turbo is in the passenger seat. Definitely more responsive on the throttle and probably around the same if not a tad faster WOT. Maybe because of the new intercooler and piping, but it's almost like I can hear
The boost start building on the hot side and it makes its way over to the cold side for a very loud induction sound. Overall very happy.

I'm curious, I keep seeing multiple companies having both an oiled and dry filter options. Is one better than the other? I've read a lot about how the K&N oiled filters suck at filtering. Does that go for all oiled filters?

I had a K&N replacement filter in my old Sport Trac (just got one for the Ranger) for over 200,000 miles and never had any issues. Just clean and re-oil it once a year. Used oil analysis, which will show dirt, were always fine. When people have a problem with a check engine light or fouled mass air flow sensor it's because they put too much oil on it. Just spray the side facing into the airbox and don't overkill it.

Intercoolers and piping always add HP. Just not to the top end where dyno bragging happens. Typically a nice mid range bump.
