Exactly what was the point he missed, because I missed it too?

What are the "correct" LEDs that exactly match the incandesent filement. I haven't seen any.
There are none, and the point he thinks I missed is that "well filament is same distance as LED chips, must work perfect!"

The point he completely ignored is the directionality of LEDs and spread vs halogen filaments. The scatter is quite easy to see. When people drive at me with bright-ass drop ins LEDs they get flashed. So many people go "I don't get flashed too often, so it must be fine." Do your civic duty. Let em know.

The newer designs are called 1:1 meaning that the emitters are located exactly where the filaments are, at the center of projection point...all reflectors are designed this way...the cheap drop ins have LEDs randomly placed and are off the focal point thereby causing projections of light to places the reflector weren't designed for...in our case, the reflectors in the lamp are designed to reflect horizontally so these 1:1 are designed to key in vertically emitting light sideways and precisely in/out relative to focal point...

No I didn't ignore anything...you're not understanding the technology I'm talking about...I know which bright ass drop ins you're talking about and I see them all the time...that's not the case in my application...

Just wanted to see where this would go.

And, I'm still waiting to see the "correct" LED that will give the exact same 360 degree light output as an incandesent filement. Not happening with chips mounted on two sides of a circuit board.

But this guy had his friend stand down the road who says it’s totally legit and not too bright.

Corporate drone. Dilbert's world is alive & well.
very very rarely I'll get someone flash me, and turns out they're sending a warning about a police car nearby. it's amazing people still do this.

every newer vehicle I've ever driven gets the odd flasher (even the low, squatty cars). some people are so accustomed to their faded headlight lenses that anything new and clear is obscene to them.

and yeah, every now and then I encounter someone whose headlights aren't aimed for shit.
Headlights can definitely impede someone's vision.

Few years back not long after I got my ST, I raccccc..... ummmm, I mean... um, compared automotive acceleration abilities with two attractive young ladies. Hey, THEY started it. And on that sunny summer day the ol' ST performed admirably. And ironically after the acceleration comparison ended and the other car pulled up next to me, I got a nice smile and wave from the driver and... the young lady in the passenger seat got on her knees and flashed me her headlights! Not sure if they were halogen or LED's but man oh man they were nice headlights. And yea, they did blind me a bit. For a few seconds there I can honestly say that the only thing on this entire planet that I could see was her headlights. ? ??? ? At my age I think maybe time stood still for a minute or two. If someone would have stopped in front of me I'd have rear ended them and never hit my brakes. So yes headlights can be totally disorienting. Beautifully, wonderfully, gloriously so.

Told my wife that story that evening and while she was laughing her head off she said "You should have taken her picture!" To which I replied something to the effect of "by the time I got my phone unlocked, opened the camera, pointed the camera, fumbled with the settings (think boomer with cell phone) the show would have been over."

One additional note... and keep in mind I had a bit of "hell all that working out is paying off!" and "hey maybe I've still got it!" attitude going on because these ladies were probably early 20's and I was early 50's... anyway, after my wife calms down from her intense laughter, she looks at me and says something about how those girls are entertaining all of their friends talking about how they flashed an old man and he was so mesmerized that he almost had a heart attack.

Yep. Leave it to your wife to keep your ego in check. ?

Well, that's my headlight story.

so a idea popped into my mind earlier tonight. the auto high dim feature on our trucks and a lot of newer cars may be part of the issue with lights seeming t0o bright and us getting the flashes. it seems like my auto high beams kick on just in time to blind someone and make me look like a jerk. possible that some of the flashes are not really that the 5g lights are too bright etc. just that the auto high dim feature is less than perfect.

Anyone getting flashing lights from oncoming car signaling headlights to bright. I have 2021 Tremor stock height. Going to adjust my lights but I am surprised to need to.
I got my Ranger lifted and leveled. Fron 3.5" withthe BDS kit. I'm pretty sure my lights are hi. I do get flashed. I am going to figure out how to adjust the lights someday. Maybe this?:

Yeah, on certain roads my auto high beams are going on and off a lot and do sometimes flash people. I just take it off auto when that happens.
