Drain oil from Factory soon as possible. Order some Break in oil. Run it for 500 miles. Put in a full synthetic name brand. Run it for 2000 miles.Drain and put in full synthetic. Change every 4000-5000 miles

Far as I'm aware there is no break-in oil that meets an API service spec. They are usually meant for race cars with high spring pressures and high lift cams, something a consumer engine doesn't have to deal with.

Your truck, but I wouldn't bother, I also wouldn't recommend anyone else follows the advice.

If you want, dump the factory fill early, sure, I did that as well. Also did a few early short changes, but it was with an API spec oil that also carried the MC certification (Which isn't an especially hard test).

Everyone has their own way of doing it but I've never seen anything that proves one works better then the other.

Last 4 new vehicles I kept factory fill in and changed the oil when it's called for.

Except for our 2006 civic, I changed the oil once a year@~12k. It was at 200k when I got hit and totaled it. Engine never gave me a problem.

Ranger is every 10k and I'm at 99k now and it runs fine.

Welcome to the forum Michael.

Your truck, do what you want. However, I think all that is unnecessary. I would change the factory oil at either 5k miles, one year, or when the dash tells you to.

I've just been doing changes with full synthetic based on the oil monitor. It's typically around 6500 miles, probably based on duration I would assume, since I don't drive much. I bought it new in spring of 21 and have done 4 changes, I think
