Let me clarify. The brake pedal engagement is inconsistent. Not the actual stopping. Maybe that will help.
It should operate as designed.
It is not designed to be inconsistent.
If it is the truck, get it fixed for free!

Has anyone else driven the truck and had the same complaint?
Has a qualified Ford tech driven the truck and found fault?
Have you driven a different Ranger and found it different?
Diagnostics must also be consistent, objective, and methodical to be effective.

More than a few people agree. Maybe it is because of all the auto braking, abs, etc. Maybe I'm used to more consistent brakes on everything else I own. 95 Ranger, 89 mustang, 17 Fusion Sport. I also drive a ton of fleet vehicles. This is on the bottom of brake pedal consistency feel for me.

So... what do you think is the conclusion of the matter?

I still need to see if I can look into if it's got an adjustment master cylinder pushrod or if it holds enough vacuum because of the auto start stop.

Sounds like there may be some air in the lines, maybe they weren't quite bled properly from the factory?

typically the first push of the pedal after some time of not using them will be the softest/most travel, and with each push the air will be compressed and the pedal will feel more firm. after not using them for any amount of time (30 seconds, 10 minutes, just depends) the pedal will become squishy until the air is compressed again.

If there is air in the lines it would have trouble stopping. It would consistently go down without stopping. Pumping the brakes to make it stop is a bad master cylinder. It does not. It's all in the pedal engagement or lack thereof and the sometimes firmer and sometimes not.

That's really not true at all, a small amount of air in the lines can cause inconsistencies with pedal feel but still stop the car properly.
The symptoms you're describing are exactly that of a small amount of air in the lines...

Just take it to the dealer?

Did you get this addressed? I'd be interested in what they found because I have similar issues with mine.

Because I'm sure they won't solve anything. And my friend works there.

Now that I have had mine for a week...
Brakes are great and perform well.
I have always had a get acquainted period with a new car before testing its limits.
This seems to be the first one which has a get acquainted period for me.
I guess we'll explore the limits together in about a thousand miles or so!:like:

So are you saying they work as intended and you just don't like it or can't get used to it?
My last two new Fords have demonstrated a new approach to braking, both were strange at first but proved superior and predictable after a learning curve.
