I'm in Ontario, Canada and we get lots of road salt hitting our vehicles. If this were true I would think mine would have sealer and it doesn't. I think what others have said is true, there was a problem with the sealer and they pushed ahead with production anyway.

By comparison mine wasn't. Passenger rear door would not open one cold morning due to ice buildup because the door wasn't sealing properly. Upon closer inspection I noted the rear door was noticeably higher than the front door. The trim around the window was not seated properly either. The dash...

I took mine in for several things, this being one of them and they told me the same thing, passes all tests. So I guess they are the way they are? I've almost got used to it in a way now.

Yes I had wondered that too. Also wondered if there is another sleeve part number floating around that has different clips on the side. I also thought about trimming the plastic more to get the sleeve to fit to the metal behind it but I also bent the clips to fit.

Its actually not that bad. The biggest problem I had was the sleeve. Seems there is more trimming that needed to be done to get it to fit, or perhaps I got the wrong one because the clips that hold it in place were way too shallow to fit the thickness of the bumper with the plastic cut out. Yes I was aware of that, thanks for mentioning it though. I share your opinion on the stock 4 pin, its in a bad location and picks up all the dirt from the road, also why I went through the trouble of installing the new harness and plug.
