With the hood struts, there isn't enough weight of the aluminum hood to get it to latch on its own.
Oh maaaan! Here I go again, hobbling out with the walker to check my hood. :(

I thought sure I closed it by dropping it after I installed my struts. ?

Meh. You could be right. I have had the truck 15 months and opened the hood only once to take a look at the engine when I first bought it.

OK, here is my report, the definite guide to a 2022 XLT FX4 VIN number ....

The hood will not drop of its own weight with the struts, only a prop rod model option (which mine was before I paid like $85 for the factory struts). :(

The hood is easily closed by adding just a slight amount of downward pressure to keep it going, removing the hand before engagement (how I did it, after all, not just gravity), basically a momentum thing.

Even with the crease up front acting as a stiffener, I could see the AL hood flexing while closing it by palm pressure, so Adam's point is an important one, I could easily dent it.

Oh and my bumpers are not adjustable, one more delete thing?

Basically, I think everyone who posted is right, bummer. ;)

That's it folks.

yours won't unscrew like mine ? (2021) mine were cranked all the way down ...
Nope, mine are fastened to collar and will not adjust. That’s why I had to use a spacer. One side of my hood was almost touching the fender I looked like crap let alone was concerned about rubbing and paint destruction. If I ever do want the adjustment will definitely be getting some of what you have down the road.

I have a 2022 and mine adjust as I had the same issue with the hood slightly moving up and down.

not really threaded , the rubber itself is cut deep and threads into the slot of the core support ...
Hmmm, I may have to go out and try cranking on mine again. Mine look like yours, but when I tried cranking them, they wouldn't budge.

Reflecting on it, they probably would be round if they didn't adjust...

Hobbling again with the walker... :(

NOOO!!! If you go down in some garage/walker mishap while checking , I'll feel responsible...
Didn't make it. Things started to get sore and I have my first PT later, so I went back up and started icing again. I will check later today.

If anyone sees a thread: What part number is the FIXED hood bumper, they will know mine wasn't adjustable and I used my normal "bigger hammer" approach to testing the adjustability... ;)

my arrow points to front and I don’t have the plate underneath mine. It won’t adjust
if it doesn't back out , how is it installed ? It should back out , mine has the same arrow ...
maybe instead of adjusting mine I was twisting it in half ? I'm going back out there!
