Still nothing falling yet here in central Va. Wunderground.com is now at it's lowest prediction at 4.5" of snowfall tonight.

We had a windchill of -38 yesterday and are at a windchill of -9 now in northern Illinois. Honestly, I was expecting more from this (granted -38 is nothing to squawk at). Hoping all in the potentially affected areas see light ‘actuals’.

No, he feels very wealthy due to his Global Warming.

Luckily he made enough off of it to spend his last years in comfort before the world ended back in 2010.

I wouldn't trust them for accurate amounts they've been wrong more than right summary times. That's why I gave up on weather apps and started watching Ryan & Max. At least they'll tell you that things will most likely change and keep you updated and not hype it up like some other YouTubers. I have 3 different weather apps and today all 3 had totally different forecasts. 🤦‍♂️

If you have natural gas and cheap reliable electricity a generator may the lowest cost for you but it's just gonna sit there and do nothing 99.99% of the time needing exercise and maintenance. With batteries and inverter if you add a couple solar panels you have a savings on your electric bill every month without fuel costs plus it is basically trouble free once set up. This summer there's supposed to be a big drop in battery prices I'm hearing. Actually a fun learning experience if you DIY it.
You actually do have some loss in a system from inverter consumption and inefficiency along with charge controller inefficiency plus battery BMS consumption so when running a 48 volt system there's about a 10% total loss from solar panels to outlets. Less for just the inverter. Lower voltage systems and cheaper components will increase the loss.
What is the typical half life of a solar panel?

Depends on the quality and technology you pay for. The Aptos panels I bought are down to about 75% at 30 years. About 20 years they're still up in the 80s. So basically 30 years total if you're overpaneled best case. The biggest worry we have here is hail. I think once you get over 5/8 inch it becomes a real threat to instant death. Also an EMP bomb will destroy them instantly. I have some old king sized memory foam mattress pads to try if we ever get a big hail prediction. They will outlive me.

One of the weather guessers at one of the local tv stations likes to give The European Model for his guesses too.

No snow when I went to bed last night, now at 7:45 am there's about 5 inches.
Light powdery snow so it should be easy to shovel and run the snowblower.
Not as bad as the March 1993 blizzard when could barely see the house across the street.
Luckily my dog is tall.

I manage my company's office and I told everyone on Friday that we weren't even going to try open on Monday and just work from home.

We have a 17 year old 9lb morkie with about 3” of ground clearance. I’ve been shoveling a 20 x 20 area in the back yard daily for him for the last two weeks. Sometimes times twice a day. Also the deck so he can get to the yard.

Growing up we had 2 Chows and one loved the snow and the other hated it. My dad would have to snowblow an area out back for the black one or else she wouldn't go outside. The cinnamon one would dive right in and run around al day in it. lol Sometimes my poor mom would have to chase him all around the back yard at night because he didn't want to come inside.
