I had mine spray tinted by a friend. I agree the Blackout package should have had something "darker" for the tail lights. I believe the headlights are internally blacked out in some areas. Doesn't affect BLISS at all.

There may not be a safety issue with the license tint, but you are more likely to get pulled over if a cop can't read your plate.
For sure. Which is why I said if you're willing to pay the ticket.

Around here they've gotten pretty lax on tags though. They used to be pretty hard core about front tags, and my wife was warned about the tinted covers by an officer once. At the time we had them on both vehicles. I removed them at that time because I was younger and didn't want to deal with it.

Not anymore. I haven't had my front plate on for almost a year and a half after an accident. And currently my rear plate says it expired in January. New plates and registration are sitting in the passenger seat because I switched plate styles and have been putting it off cause I wanted to get the front on too.

It's possible they're running my tag and seeing I've paid. Or maybe they're leaving me be because I'm old and white. But doubtful. I see a lot of expired tags on the road nowadays.

In Va. there are a slew of minor infraction cops are not allowed to pull people over for. They have to have a more serious violation. But I always try to have everything in order, I don't want to give them any reason to pull me over.

i tinted my taillights on the lightning cause that bright clear stuff they had factory was horrible, so far so good after almost 20 years lol
I did recently throw in LED bulbs in them at least.

Although imo i dont think tinting these tail lights will fix anything, i think theyre just too big for the truck and will look off no matter what.

This was done with 3 coats of VHT Niteshades. Can get it at local auto parts store. No prep work either for it to stick. Just clean several times with 91% rubbing alcohol.
That looks terrible to me. Sticks out worse then red on a white truck. Just my opinion.

Geezaloo Ed, you’re freaking these guys out now. Clearly, they’re doing this for others to see and to appreciate. I figure it can’t be for any other reason than that because the owners certainly can’t see it when they’re driving.

Now, you’ve ruined EVERYTHING.

I get in trouble many times for stating my true feelings. May be impressive south of the border though :lipssealed:

haha everyone is entitled to their opinion and I knew I would not get any love posting so no hurt feelings here. It’s very clear from this thread that the forum concensus is that tinted tail lights are terrible, but since the OP was asking about options on accenting the rear taillights I wanted to be helpful in presenting options.

I generally feel the same. But I've got nothing to worry about, if they wanna waste their time with me they can. Lately my lazy side has won out over my paranoia.

But I've got a long weekend stating tomorrow. Getting my tag mounting straight is high on the list.

Agreed. As a white platinum metallic owner, I'm no fan of the huge red taillights, but that's pretty ugly to me.

I like that; doesn't seem to cover the parts that matter and match the Ranger trim on the tailgate etc.

I also like like the LX/STX tails better looks wise.. but I like how bright/no worries of a burnout of the XLT+ LEDs

The Maverick black package comes with black appearance tail lights. It’s sad the Ranger one doesn’t.

It amazes me that some want to darken the taillights, others want to brighten the headlights, and some want to do both. And also add 25% tint on the front doors.

Like most cities, Roswell, NM has laws against blacked out anything, and too dark of a tint on windows. The police don't typically stop you for these things, unless you're driving erratically. But...! If you're involved in a crash, then these types of infractions are used against you, even though you weren't the one causing the crash. Read into that, your insurance company is notified. And then think... Higher premiums!
