Bilstein 6112 leveling kit

Hey group, I’m new to the forum coming from a Fusion Energi (ended up being a recall buyback due to EV battery failure). I recently purchased a pair of 6112s and 5100s for the rear.

Fun fact is I don’t have my Ranger yet…. But aiming to pick up a 2019 or 2020 XLT 4x4 or FX4, depending on pricing.

I’m a ford truck guy since I was able to drive, owning a 1998 Ranger, then a 2002 Ranger, then a Gen 1 Raptor…. Then a Fusion EV?!?! Where did I go wrong. ??‍ anyway looking forward to being a part of the conversation on here. I’ll post photos once I pick up the truck and install the Bilsteins.

They are actually pretty comfortable. You do feel a bit more of the road below 30, but if that doesn't bother you to much, they are worth the money and will last a long time.

I actually don't have Bilstein on my truck right now, but have driven a Ranger with the 6112/5160 and 5100's many times. My truck actually had 5100's on it all the way around once upon a time. It's run a lot of suspension set ups, as we use to use it for testing. Right now it has the Eibach 2R kit on it with about 90k on them and still work great. A Bilstein should last the same.

Depends on how your using the truck and what your expectations are of the ride. Bilstein will be more supportive/sporty and Eibach will be a bit more comfortable.

i have the 2r kit and id say it all depends on how much you raise the front end, if youre keeping it at the height it comes at or maybe a little higher then the ride is great on and offroad. i took mine off road the other day and they performed really well a lot better than i thought they would, the rear is a little stiff day to day driving but they are like floating when youre offroad with some speed. if you want a more plush rear end id recommend swapping out the leaf springs. but overall Eibach kit all day.

How do the Eibach 2r rear shocks handle with some weight on them? Naturally my Fox 2.0's are very unhappy with the leer canopy i put on the bed, so need something that offers more support and control while still letting me drive like a dumbass on some dirt roads. I messaged shock surplus and they recommended the 5160's, but i've heard mixed things on them when it comes to faster speeds offroad so hoping to get some insight on the eibachs.

I don't really want to go to a 2.5 shock unless i have to, because i feel like that's a rabbit hole my wallet doesn't need me to go down right now haha.

the eibachs do good with some weight on there, like i mentioned before the rears on the eibachs are a little stiff so they hold weight pretty good. during higher speed off road is where they shine being more plush but if youre going to put some weight in the back i think theyd be great for you. also consider getting some icon leaf springs if you want to stiffen it out a bit. the kit comes with an extra leaf you can add for a certain amount of bed weight.
