Does anyone have a bed stiffener installed on their Ranger? I have a RTT and rack and am worried over time the bed will expand to the point the tailgate won't close. Guy that sold/installed the RTT suggested a bed stiffener. Google only returns hits for Tacos.

Wouldn't it be nice if someone sold something that both acted as a bed stiffy device, screwed into the often empty hook holes in everyone's bend, and acted as a convenient divider?

I also have a rooftop tent and full-size steel rack on my truck, though I never considered running bed stiffeners. I know the Tacoma’s need them since their beds are a composite material. Your post does make me wonder what the integrity of my bed is with all that weight constantly mounted on top of it.

I have tow straps tied between the bed hooks. Seems to help.

I think this is something Scab owners should be concerned with more than Screw owners - maybe Tacos with longer beds are the issue. The shorter Screw bed on our Rangers might not be an issue.

This divider suggestion is a good dual purpose solution. Those tie-down spots are designated anchor points, so they’re likely the most worry-free place for mounting a stiffener. Are they a bit low in the bed? Maybe, but I’m definitely building a divider with a quick-release to replace those “missing” tie-downs.

And selling it to the rest of us schmucks.

Thanks for the responses ya'll! I won't worry about it unless I see evidence its becoming an issue. +1 for Rangers over Tacos.

I got a scab and went out and grabbed the side of my bed and tugged some. Trucks rocks but bed stays solid without flexing.

Now the real thing most don’t notice is our beds are not bolted down to the frame like the days of old. They fasten on with 6 nuts from underneath the bed! Go see for yourselves ?
