Bed width

Does anyone know the width of the bed? All I'm finding online is "between the wheel wells" which is like 44" or something, I am looking for the width between the bed sides. I bought a bike bar that attaches to the bed rails a while ago and it doesn't fit with my 2001 because I failed to take into account it's a flare side. I'm sure It'll be fine on my 23' but I just want to make sure. TIA

I had a similar style rack made out of 80/20 with mounting brackets to match the threaded tie-down holes. Pictures on my profile. I think I had to shave it a bit shorter than measured, but wall to wall in the back of the bed was about 59". Not the easiest spot to use a tape measure, but it was close.

Works pretty well, but trail or enduro style mountain bikes will be too long for the short bed. I can let air out of the back tire or set the frame diagonally to clear the tailgate. Will probably redesign the mounting bracket to push the axle mount flush with the back of the bed, but it works for now.

Now that I have my Ranger, I wonder how the canopies for these trucks fit.
Sure, it's 55.5 inches inside to inside, but it's like 64 outside to outside at the front, 63 outside to outside midway and 62 outside to outside at the rear by the tailgate.
I'm guessing the canopies don't start out 64 at the front and narrow to 62 at the rear.
I've been browsing the canopy / topper threads and I'm not seeing how this width variation is addressed.

Also, the siderails arch up higher in the center.

Yep. I sure don't think they put it out with all the odd dimensions and humped bedrails by accident.
