Yea, about halfway between rear tire and bumper. Should look like this pic, but the two wires on one end. This is the cut version we just left the piece there.

Thanks for crawling under and finding this. Can you tell me which wire is the positive and ground?

I'm sorry I don't remember which is + and which ground. I'm thinking "red" + and the "white" ground. One way to test would be w/ a voltmeter. Hope this helps.

Found this kit on Amazon made by Nilight that comes with two 60” LED strips that fit nicely along the edge of the bed even with the Bedrug and tonneau cover mounting hardware. Really lights up the back with a simple switch, I’m very happy with how it came out.

OE.
Thought ok for me.

These are basically the ones I bought except I bought them from Robin Electronics. They were exactly the same as the Ford lights (maybe Robin makes the Ford lights IDK). The only difference was the price. I paid $60 for a set of 4. Here's the link on Amazon. They are not available right now but they come and go for some reason. You have to be patient. :)

It kind of looks like either WPT-987 or WPT-994 - I searched on those part numbers and one is $24 and one is $31!!! Maybe I'll just cut the wires.... I'd hate to waste the money on a connector if I didn't know for sure it was the right one. Hard to tell from the pictures only.
OMG!
Are you serious?
$24 for just 1 connector?
Probably cost Motocraft 2.4 cents to manufacture in some foreign country sweatshop...oh wait, it comes with terminals and wire also? Make that 5 cents instead.

I put some bed lights in today. I used the dummy connector from bed power wiring harness. It was pretty easy, I pulled it off and made some connectors with molex pins like @RedlandRanger did. I also put some lights under the hood with a switch that is activated by opening the hood.

Very cool...I did the same for my hood but with a manual switch...

I know - If you hadn't seen, I ended up using the "cap" and basically making my own plug, which worked pretty well:

https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/bed-lights.2167/page-4#post-39935

I ordered these from amazon to add multiple interior LED lights in my Honda, they are well made and worked just fine.
The manufacturer claims they are "marine" grade, I am sure they will withstand exterior use.
These are 2 conductor, they also make a 3 conductor as well.
Best thing about them is the price, about $1.11 each.

I just couldn't bring myself to cut wires in a new truck.... The thing I did has worked out pretty well. No issues thus far.

I just put in the 2 60" Nilight kits off of Amazon. $22.95 for 2 60" LED strips. Tied them into the 12V port plug like MT19Ranger did by making connectors by grinding down some male spade connectors. I only wished that this connection was live all the time. The picture is with my Retrax Pro cover closed.

Looks good, real good.
What sort of switch (if any) do these come with?
I'm almost certain if you were to get the schematic for the circuit you tied into you could configure it to be hot all the time. No doubt the plug you tapped into is also tied in with the interior 12 VDC circuit. If there is a relay in the circuit the task is made all the easier.
Perhaps another member has an electrical troubleshooting manual of which he could send you a copy of the circuit diagram?

That looks good! Is it only live when the truck is on and for a set time after it’s off?
