HI Chris,You're abroad?
Beautiful pic!
nice! I wish could see wildlife in my yard like that. except the copperheads. mr no shoulders and I are not friends.I apologize for the less than stellar clarity, as these were taken in less than ideal conditions... That said, I would like to introduce you to the triplets, and their mother. This herd of deer have been here since before our home was built and we decided to share our space with them. The come by every night, and we leave treats for them. We seen generations come and go.

This is a typical evening in the back yard. But this is only the deer. Our regulars include both gray and red foxes, possums, raccoons, an occasional coyote and wolf, rodents of all types, and birds of all manner including large hawks, eagles, and owls. Our outdoor lights are always coming on once the evening begins. We also see snakes, including copperheads.

Yeah, I stumbled upon him at the based of a rock retaining wall. I did take his head off as I didn't want him around the neighborhood. His head stayed active and alert for over 25 minutes! I'd walk past his severed head on the top of the retaining wall and he would open his mouth wide and show his fangs! I couldn't believe it! Went inside and brought out my wife to show her. He did the same thing again. Very alert!nice! I wish could see wildlife in my yard like that. except the copperheads. mr no shoulders and I are not friends.
yes, even cut up and "dead" they are very dangerous. I read a story about a local guy that shot a copper head and picked it up to show his fishing buddy, snake was not dead enough. guy ended up staying a few days in the hospital. if the fool was alone he might have died in the woods. his buddy got him to the closest hospital. came across this one last week. you can see a bit of that translucent tail. that one headed the other way when i kicked some dirt at him. even being several paces away, i had a hand on the snake medicine. if it looked my way after i gave it a warning it would be a future wallet skin. at one point it crossed over a tire track of a pickup, and he was longer than the tire track width plus a few inches. folks get excited over rattle snakes, but at least they warn you if you get close and dont see them. copper heads just go on and bite you ?. this one got to the grass, leaves, and sticks and it was untraceable. perfect camo. I watched my steps real careful on my way back lol.Yeah, I stumbled upon him at the based of a rock retaining wall. I did take his head off as I didn't want him around the neighborhood. I checked it out and found reports of people being bitten by copperheads after they had severed the heads from the body!
I didn't remove the carcass until his head stopped showing movement for 30 minutes. Most don't know this but the just hatched copperheads have translucent green tails the last inch or so. I have seen them up to 15" long and pencil thin with that inch of translucent tail. This is here in central North Carolina.
Indeed.HI Chris,
Actually clean out files of older trips and thought about posting them. My Digital Pix Frame died and I wanted to keep photos....etc.
