I couldnt imagine having to leave him... Good that he is gaining weight. Im sure its stressful with him being a bit early and all but if it helps a good friend of mine had a baby at 21.5 weeks. Tiny tiny. She is in first grade now, smart as a whip, and healthy. sending a prayer yalls way!His name is Harrison. The wife is doing well. She had a c-section, so she's healing up. Harrison is doing well, but is in the NICU. Due to the wife having Vasa Previa and Harrison being IUGR, they took him out 5 weeks early. He is small, but starting to put on some weight now. He struggles to stay warm, so they have him in the toaster. At 35 weeks gestation, babies don't quite have the energy for feedings, so he's on a feeding tube. But he gained 65g over the last 24 hours, so his weight is increasing. Still down from birth weight, but yesterday was the first increase since he was born on the 26th.
Right now, we are kind of cheating on sleep. We were in the hospital for 4 days, but now we are ho me. Since Harrison is getting the absolute best care in the NICU, we are going home to sleep at night. I figure, we can't care for Harrison if we aren't taking care of ourselves too. Mama slept pretty good last night. Me? Not so much. Just couldn't shut it off. We know he is going to be fine, but it is heartbreaking to leave your 5 day old behind. It hit me a lot harder than I thought it would.
