When I unlock my Ranger Tremor's tailgate, I have found it locks back automatically after driving about a mile. I have to UNLOCK it using that funky new style in the key fob. I was not aware of this and can not find any documentation on this. Wondering if anyone else knows this for sure. My key fob has not lock or unlock button for the tailgate, etc...

It doesn’t unlock on a double-click of the unlock button on the fob?

The Ranger's tailgate locks and unlocks with the doors. The Ranger automatically locks the doors once it exceeds 4MPH. You might be able to disable Auto-Lock in the instrument panel options, I can't remember.

Ford does this to prevent theft of the tailgate.

The only other option is to open your tailgate's access panel and unplug the actuator.

Double click unlock on the FOB, or hit the unlock button in the cab.

Correct: If you disable auto lock, if you can, then anyone could open a door while the truck is moving. Not a safe condition. Normally the first press of the unlock button only unlocks the drive door and the second press unlocks all the rest. You can change this in the menus to unlock everything on the first press.

Yep, I just had to run out and you can definitely disable Auto-Lock. I'm somewhat surprised it's an option.

Me too, thought it was a mandatory safety feature.
