I was watching Your Advocate Alliance guys on YouTube and they recently uploaded a video that deals directly with this topic. Long story short high gas prices are already starting to impact the sales of large trucks and SUVs. It's still a minor impact, but it's already in motion. The good news is the Ranger is likely to hold up better in this high gas price market because smaller is always viewed by consumers as being more fuel efficient even if in reality it's only by a small percentage.

I'd say if your thinking about selling now is the time before lots start filling up again with cash on the hoods of new trucks and inflated used values crash. It'll happen in the next few months if gas stays above $4.

I was curious about this myself but I'm in Canada. I asked my local dealer for a ballpark estimate if I were to trade my 2019 Lariat which has under 23,000km on it.

Sticker price: $50,200 CAD.
What I paid: $42,600 CAD (A-plan discount and another $4000 discount as it was a demo).
Trade estimate: $37,000-39,000 ($41,810-44,070 including taxes saved when trading).

FWIW I also noticed that there are trucks like mine but with 3x the kms (60,000) on them listed for $45,000 CAD on AutoTrader.

@Ranger345 Donald, In my area of the south low mileage used Rangers are selling for at least the original sticker price. It's stupid carzy out there, and they are selling at those high prices.

With that said, be careful about selling too soon. I have a 10/04/20 reservation with an 03/03/21 order for an Outer Banks (small town local dealer), and it's considered quite far done the line. The vast majority of the reservations were in July, and early August of '20. Mine was originally thought to be a late summer, early fall of '22 build. But, with Fords asinine allocation changes after the fact mine it has moved to a possible '24 build if I'm lucky. Allocations now favor the mega dealers leaving the small town dealers in the tall grass. Just a bit of info to maybe help with your decision.

I don't know what your dealer has told you, but apparently he's holding back or just doesn't have any idea about the Bronco Raptor. They are a limited build that are planned to be sold to what we call a "Golden Ticket" holder. Those are the ones that have a reservation, and were lucky enough to get picked from the pack for a Braptor. I suggest you do a bit of research at www.bronco6g.com , and then have a come to Jesus meeting with your dealer about what you've learned. There is a ton of info on the Braptor there. Good luck.

And an important suggestion. If you still stick with your Raptor order (which I don't think you will after some research) make sure you get a signed price agreement. The horror stories of some that didn't will curl your hair. They walked into their dealer thinking they would pay sticker price for their delivered Bronco, only to have the dealer throw a stupid high ADM (adjusted dealer mark-up) to the MSRP. Many have had to walk away from their orders because of greedy dealers. I'm sorry to be such a Debbie downer, but it's a shit show out there when it comes to the Bronco.

Here's a thread to get you started.

@Ranger345

See above post....
Choices choices & more choices, prices seem good to sell now but!
1- Will you get your Bronco on time?
2- If you sell Ranger now & not get the Bronco on time are you ok with that?
3- If you keep Ranger & the price falls because the market fell to shit in the next 3 months, you ok with that too?
No one knows but prices to sell the Ranger is in your favour at the moment.

Yes 4wd... Bronco comes in this summer.
I hope your ride comes in sooner and that it is made well.

But having followed the numerous changes, missed deadlines, the cute names of dirt mountain, ice mountain, the lost ones and last minute dealer markups for many people that have waited for their dream ride.

The reaction I think of when it comes to Bronco promised delivery dates….

You'll be lucky to get it by summer of '23.

But the fact that you're willing to pay over $20k (on top of any dealership ADM) more for what basically amounts to a tune, lift, and tires tells me that you don't care.

This is the kind of stupidity that'll keep Ford pulling this bullshit.

I sold my 2000 Ranger on Craigslist after getting multiple used car prices from KBB, Edmonds, etc. I even called my salesperson and asked him what he thought it was worth, he said add another $1,500 to the best price. The first person that called me bought the truck with no haggling, i think i could have gotten another $1,500 if i had upped the price. My suggestion, keep your 2019 Ranger until the Bronco arrives, settle on a price you want to sell it for, then add $2,000 or more and see if anyone buys it, you can always lower the price.

I think I have had two of those for my Bronco order which was reserved on 10/14/2020. I most likely will be told to drive before I ever see it! I would NOT put any faith in anything Ford says as far as timeline goes. Maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones who gets theirs but I wouldn't sell my Ranger (unless you have another vehicle) until it's actually in production. No one here is trying to be a jerk about this but the reality is you most likely wont see it close to the timeline they say. Good Luck!!

You have to know we're all rooting for this to work out like you have been told it would.
We're just not nearly as optimistic as you.
Cynicism runs deep here.
