Anyone tried using a regular funnel instead of factory one for refueling from a gas can?

These aftermarket fuel fillers are exact duplicates of the ones that come with the Rangers. I use them to pour gas into the Ranger frequently. I insert the fuel filler into the Gas filler tube of the Ranger then place a wide mouth funnel into it and it works well. With this method it is easy to tell visually when the gas can is empty. Be careful with products that are not designed to fit the Ranger filler tube...they can get stuck in there and/or spill gas. Some Ranger owners have even reported having gas station dispenser spouts getting stuck in them.

I have one that's about 24" long and meant for power steering fluid to reach the pump.
Local grocery chain gives you points to use at their convenience stores and you can get up to 30 gallons discounted so the wife and I keep some gas cans and get all our 30 gallons.

Please could you share a link to that wide mouth red funnel part shown on the pictures?

Sorry man...I've had it a long time and don't remember where I got it. The brand is SEA GUARD and I'm thinking that I bought it at a Marine supply for a boat that I owned at that time. Hope you can find something similar :)

Would like to get an extra Capless fuel funnel. Advance has a flow tool one. Will it work with the Ranger or do I have to buy a specific one?

There are some injector cleaners which are capless compatible, true or should I use the funnel anyway?

Also, it’s about to get pretty cold here, should I throw in a bottle of dry gas?

The ford funnel isn't all that special, as long as the after market funnel is the same size it'll work.

And I've directly poured additives right into my previous F150 without the funnel so I don't see how itd be different for the ranger.

Never heard of dry gas, but I doubt you need it. Use heet if the ranger will sit for a while.

Dry gas and heet are the same thing (generally speaking). My truck will be parked for 2 or 3 days…long enough to use heet or you mean more like a week or longer?

Oh, I mean i've only used heet when I lived in Minnesota in January/February when the temps got down to 20-30 below zero.

Otherwise kept the tank full at all times with heet every other tank fill.
