Anyone have any luck sleeping in the truck bed with a camper shell? I'm 6' so I know I can't lay straight, but wondering if I lay diagonal if it would be doable

I'm assuming you have a 5' bed?

I'd have to think one of these would fit in the bed with the tailgate down.

And then skip the topper.

Yet another reason to add a SuperCrew/longbed configuration to the Ranger lineup. With the overwhelming majority of Rangers being SuperCrews, I would think the take rate for this configuration would be at least the number of SuperCab’s with the 6’ box if not more? It would be a no brainer for the overland crowd.

At about 4’ wide and 5’ long, the diagonal length is 6.4’. Of course, your head is buried in a corner.

Yes, I've slept in it. It's short, even diagonally. I have the same issue with the 6' bed on a supercab; I really liked the 7' bed on the gen3 Rangers...

My solution was to extend the bed area, to contract/extend when needed. It'd be nicer if they came just 6" longer though :D
(I'm going to post to my build page sometime soon with more details, link here for future ref )

No but in High School and College I had a 1984 Ranger with a topper on it and I did a lot of "other stuff" in the back of that thing.

Let me assure you two people fit easily back there.

I have pictures of the tent extension I use on mine in my build thread.

Have a 2019 now but in 2016 I had an older 2004 Ranger wi 6 foot bed and a cap and my son and and took it on a Road trip from Ohio to Prudhoe Bay Ak with both of us sleeping in the back, My son is 6' 3" he just had to bend his legs to fit sleeping in the back. Doable for sure 3 weeks on the road.

I can sleep in my RSI- I plan on doing it once my kids go off in the summer. Until then, they get the bed and I get the hammock.
I’m 6’1 but I always sleep on my side anyway so I know I can fit.

Not in the Ranger (yet) but I had a short bed early Tundra that I had a sheet of plywood with hinges for a section at the tailgate. When camping, I'd put the tailgate down, fold out the plywood, and set up a two person tent. Work perfect :)

Where is that lease handle from? Very cool. I'm not sure I'd add one since it makes the tailgate no longer flush, but perhaps placing it underneath a flush panel...
