I have the motive pressure bleeder that I have used on my other cars. Makes replacing/bleeding the brake fluid so quick and easy. Any special procedures to follow for the Ranger? Recommendations for brake fluid? Motorcraft?

Anyone know what cap the Ranger uses for the motive? Motive lists these two options?

I just did my 2021 last weekend with the Motive presure bleeder. No special procedures needed. Just your typical "start bleeding from furthest away from the reservoir first and don't let the bleeder run out of fluid and keep it pumped up" deal. I'm pleased with the nice clean new fluid and the pedal feel is just as good as before, if not a little better. Might be placebo. As usual for me, it takes more time to clean up everything afterwards than actually perform the procedure.

I used the 1109 adapter that Motive calls the "European" adapter. It is a threaded cap on my 2021, not a 3-prong. I think the 1100 adapter would work, too.

Got several pints of Motocraft DOT 4 LV (PM20) from Rock Auto for around $5.63/pint + shipping. I only used 4 pints (2 quarts) total, but I didn't feel the need to excessively flush a lot since my factory fluid is only 3 years old and still looked fairly clean at ~32000 miles. I'd say 4 pints would be the minimum to obtain. I had bought extra because I have another truck that I will be flushing in the coming year sometime.

I just gravity bled the brakes while I did some tinkering elsewhere. It's slow but it works. Just make sure the reservoir is topped up and let it drain.

About to get to this when it warms up a bit. Need to find a way to refresh my forscan license so I can do the ABS bleed as part of this.

Just do mine the old fashioned way. Bottle above the level of the bleeder and a good secure tube, crack and pump.

Bosch ESI6 fluid for me.

Don't buy the wrong adapter cap like I did, it is NOT the 3-prong, it is the fully threaded one.

And yes you should flush and bleed the brakes, especially if you use traction control a lot in the winter and adaptive cruise on the highway. That type of use is the ABS module beating away at the fluid in it.

I've used that pressure bleed system on my Focus, I'm betting it's the same adaptor for the Ranger. So much easier to do brakes by yourself with this system.

I just checked and i have a threaded cap as well. Not sure why Motive lists our rangers as a 3 tab cap. So looks like i need the 1109 adapter. Is that the one your using?

I also ended up with the 3tab from Motive (per what the site forces on you when you put in your vehicle info). Just spoke to them to get a swap. They are saying it should be the 1109 and will confirm when it shows up.
