@Sgt York

2020 XLT, brake line was mis-installed at factory. Lost brakes at
about 3k km. Fixed at dealer. At 50k miles now, no issues.
We love the truck. As mentioned, these forums are full of people bitchin. You either come here to learn about the truck, what others did,
what works & what doesn't or you'll bitch about some
1st world problem.
I do agree that after spending 40-50k on a vehicle it should last
10yrs with minimal issues, few of us will see that.

@Msfitoy another 50k to go WOOHOO!!!! ?

The dealer apparently misplaced my fuel cap when the truck was new and I haven't been able to find a replacement.

Does that count?

As far as other issues...

My truck = 2019 FX4 XLT with 27k miles. Purchased Dec 2019, just before Armageddon hit.

At 4k miles: Had the fuel in oil issue. Resolved by the dealer. They replaced the HPFP that was leaking into the crankcase. No more fuel in oil issues.

Clunk when coming to a stop: This has just recently manifested and I suspect it's the driveshaft splines. Very infrequent and random. Has happened maybe 3 times in 6 months? I'm going to lube it myself when the weather gets warmer.

Blend Door: Also very random. Taken it to the dealer twice and both times were No Problem Found. I'm trying to exercise the doors fully when I drive it so that they'll break while under my ESP.

Battery replaced under warranty at a bit over 2 years old.

Biggest issue is that it just looks so good walking away from it or up to it ?

We have a friend who is currently unable to drive so she has me "exercise" her car occasionally. Out driving it recently and apparently forgot what I was in because as I approached her house I thought "Someone got a sharp Ranger" before my brain said "That's yours, Stupid"

I wonder how many Rangers have made it past 100k miles with no transmission issues? I know there is no way to actually know but I’m curious. I also wonder if having a tune may help it last longer. So many questions so few answers lol.

Maybe we can send out a survey to the 600,000 US 5G Ranger owners and see just how bad the trans is. May want to survey the millions of F150, Explorer, Expedition, and Mustang owners too, as it is the same trans.

There was one member here who stated he had 124K and didn't have trans issue...but he has fuel in oil, stumble/surging, HVAC damper wasn't working and his bed was 2" higher on one side...

At least he has a silver lining to go with the rest of the issues I guess lol.

My 2019 with 27,000 miles has been mostly trouble free. They replaced the battery at my first oil change under warranty. I declined the tail light recall fix because though I had no problem with the connector they told me they had to replace it anyway. I just replied, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Why solder 32 wires if you don't have to. They did tell me I can have it replaced under warranty anytime as long as it is active. Mine goes to 2027.

I had mine done, but it was a "check it and replace only if bad" thing. Mine was fine. Seems weird they wanted to replace that connector if it all checked out OK. Even the recall said it only affected a small percentage of vehicles - the only reason it was a recall was because if it was bad it caused the taillights to be completely inoperable which is obviously a safety issue.

2019 with 23k miles.
Battery replaced under warranty.
Right axle assembly failed - replaced under warranty.
Left lower ball joint failed - replaced under warranty.
Currently noticing a clunk in tranny when cold, between 3-4 gear.
Also clunk in tranny when starting on a steep incline of >6 degrees.
Might be a result of the 2 piece driveshaft, IDK.
Still Far fewer issues that I’ve had with any of my GM, Dodge, Honda, and Mercedes vehicles.
Still enjoy driving this truck.

I bought an extended warranty through to 9/27 and by then I will likely trade.

I am glad to see this thread. Most are relatively low miles but it is good hear positivity. I plan to buy a 2025 Tremor if Ford comes out with one.

I am on my second Ranger now but they were the previous generations. I have had good luck with both. My 1st one was an 89 STX and sold it to a coworker with almost 200K miles I put on it. He put at least another 100K miles on it before selling it. My current Ranger is a 2002 FX4 that I bought new and I have almost 300K miles on it now.

This thread leads me to believe the Ranger is still a solid vehicle and am looking forward to owning another new one.

Another year and I'll be there, hopefully I didn't jinx it now!

Really considering I had 1981 Bronco until 1999 this truck has given me far fewer maintenance issues, considering it's way more complex. Build quality on the Ranger is much better.

2019, just short of 90k. Plus another 6k of flat towing from coast to coast. One of the first trucks off the line.

Daily driver, but been on 33'+ almost it's entire life. Towed heavy many, many times. Been through 20 of the 50 states ( not counting it's birth) still get 21+ mpg.

  • 4th set of shocks ( but we test them for work)
  • Almost done on the 3rd set of tires ( got rid of originals at 6k)
  • One 02 sensor (warranty)
  • 2nd battery
  • 2nd set of spark plugs
  • Original brakes
  • Blen door has made noise for years
  • Transmission is on its way out ?
  • Stereo disconnects phone from AA when it gets hot. ( Since new)
Other than that, no issues. Every vehicle has problems, and this is pretty dam good for a first year model. ? Wish the trans would have made it longer, but it is a Ford Transmission ?
Any service done on the trans? Just curious. Or any mods or tunes?

77k on my 2019. HVAC door thing replaced. Brakes and rotors, tires. And that’s been it. Engine tuned by Unleashed since about 6-7k.
