I don't mind e10 or e15 gas, especially in a turbocharged application. I let my wallet decide. e15 has approximately 5% lower energy density than ethanol free, so if you can get ethanol free for less than 5% more, it makes sense to do that. The station I normally fill up at generally sells 91 octane ethanol free for $0.10 more than 93 octane e15, so it makes sense to go ethanol free. I have the FPP so 91 is my minimum.

The lugging is terrible regardless, google LSPI and you’ll see.
We have a 10:1 compression engine running over 20psi, it needs octane badly.
These do not lug at all and that is thanks to having an Automatic Transmission. Unless the Transmission has a Major Problem, these will never Lug.

I disagree, they tend to stay below 1500 while gently accelerating, they even shudder at times, I’ve watched it on datalogs, they most certainly lug themselves against a locked torque converter all the time. The locked converter makes it the same thing as a manual as far as how it’s coupled to the rest of the drivetrain.

A couple of thoughts, I viewed a few websites and videos. They all mentioned oil is key. I've always run full syn, so I think I'm good there. They mentioned high quality fuel, but don't elaborate. One did mention fuel additives, one being PEA. I'll take your word for higher octane...

Lugging, I know it's been debated on here before. I'm older, but when a engine runs about 1500 rpm, in 8th gear, maybe 40 mph, and I hit the throttle with no response unless I mat it, to be, that's lugging. Not going to mince words over terminology.

I've never tested my oil, never will, it has always passed the sniff test. very minor gas smell, more just used heated oil smell, if that makes sense.

Still interested in topic...

Has anyone run a water/meth kit on these trucks yet? Any benefits on running one without tuning specifically for it?

I pay extra for the non-alcohol premium. 91 octane.

The question I have about ethanol free gas is what kind of detergent additives does this gas have? Where I am at, all the ethanol free 91 octane pumps I have seen say for recreation or small engines only.

Autos and manuals are both capable of lugging. Its more prevalent in modern vehicles because that lack of wanting to downshift and ruin mpgs. Older slushboxes, not so much, heck the TC didn’t lock until a few decades ago.

Exactly! We don’t even notice a power difference on the dyno anymore between newer auto and manual vehicles because the converters lock up and are also very efficient.

Its actually quite sad. Slush boxes are finally starting to compete with manuals and even exceed them.

They say that because people with boats do not want the alcohol in their gas same as a lot of motorcycles and small engines. I loaded and hauled fuel for a number of years and if it is name brand such as P66 which I usually hauled it was their branded fuel and had their additive package with the detergents. There are a lot of stations that sell non-alcohol gas that is not branded and there for do not have an additive package. If getting fuel at P66 you are assured of that. P66 has individuals that visit their branded locations to assure this. Their premium alcohol-free fuel is more per gallon but worth it.
