part of the reason i was swayed into the 2.3 eb is that indmar was in on them. marine engine groups do not bother with engines that are not solid and reliable. over the past few decades groups like mecruiser, volvo penta, pcm, crusader and indmar have made some awesome engines from stuff that ford and gm put out. I was surprised to see the 2.3eb be picked over the 3.5 eb that has been around longer.
