I saw that one. I do like that setup as a option not exactly what I’m looking for but it could work it does look good though
Too bad I’ve already added the backbone and pioneer rack for my roof!! Lol so I’ll have to look at another option, I’m leaning towards the zroadz setup!!

I’m still looking for one that will fit over a Softopper. Something like what All-Pro makes for Tacos. I’ve thought about buying their kid and modding it to fit the Ranger but I don’t have the time of space to do it.
I found this topper rack on US Racks:

https://usrack.com/c-1174420-truck-cap-rack.html#!model=COLORADO||make=CHEVROLET||year=2019

It says it will fit a '19 Colorado/ '19 Frontier/ '18 Tacoma. Has an adjustable width and installs on the bedrails under the Softopper rails. Don't see why it couldn't fit a Ranger unless the bed rails are wildly different widths.

BTW says it will only hold 250lbs, don't know what you were planning to haul up there

Edit: This rack says it will fit any topper under 27". If I did my math right the Softopper for a Ranger would be around 19-20". Might look awkward with that big a gap.

You want something wider than the Softtopper and it needs to allow the Softtopper the ability to fold back. So it needs to be taller or sit beyond the forward and rear framing

I just got the Yakima Overhaul HD rack. I like the sturdiness of it when it's on the truck. Only carrying two 64lbs. kayaks on it but intend to use it in other applications. I wasn't too get the rotopax side bars also to clear up some bed space.

Looks great! We'll be doing the same Yakima system for our kayaks. What size cross bars did you use?

I just ordered this, arrives tomorrow with added features like Rotopax mount and side bars too attached my offroad tools
I really like Yakima products, and obviously wanted to get these towers, but the max weight load at 300 lbs while off-roading was kind of low. I’ll adding a RT tent, road shower, 2 rotopax, black-rhino awning, Jack, etc! So I had to go with something much more heavy duty.
but the Yakima towers were my first choice of it was rated better!

So I pulled the trigger, I went with zroadz overlanding rack!
https://zroadz.com/i-23910351-2019-...-3-inch-zroadz-led-pod-lights-pn-z835101.html
I really wanted this setup since it’s pretty unique with side rails that can lift upwards, so that, I can reach for gear closer to the cab, instead of trying to grab from the back of the bed.
I also wanted this rack because of the 800 lb. max load weight onroad, and 400 lb. max load weight offroad.
So far This is a great design, built with high quality material and workmanship. The rack also came with 4 pod lights, I’m still in the process of running the wiring to power.
I did have a few issues, since this rack is fairly new to the ranger! The instructions were incomplete, and I was missing some hardware (4 hex-nuts, washers and a 7/32 hex tool). Those were the few setbacks, I called the company and they quickly responded with a resolution.
It did take me longer to unbox and unwrap the individual pieces (2hrs) rather than for me to assemble it (1.5hrs).
Having a helping hand, makes the install easier, this unit is about 125-150 lbs.
I’ll have more reviews as I continue to utilize the rack.

Here’s more of the zroadz overlanding rack system! It’s been more than month and I’m very satisfied with this rack! I’m able to mount (2) 2.5 gallon rotopax on one side, and (2) recovery boards. I also have the hilift jack mounted in the inner side of the rack. On the back I mounted the rhinorack dome awning tent!
I’m just missing a more compatible roof top tent, most tents are to long or to thick, so I’ll wait patiently for the right one.

Any recommendations on a rack system that will work with a WeatherTech soft tonneau cover? The side rails clamp to the inside face of of the bed rails, so the rack would have to mount to top of the bed rails themselves, right?

Not really. On my rack I would weld an additional 90⁰ piece on each side that would travel inside the bed and under the rail, clamp the tonneau cover and call it.

This would be perfect. I am slightly jealous of the aftermarket support that the Toyota boys have. I think I’m going to end up having to modify something built for a Taco or go custom fab at this point. I did find a modular system that should work but it is all square tube and right angles and I don’t think it would look right on a truck with lines like the Ranger.

Has anyone tried the PUTCO rack? It shows as being compatible with tonneau covers since it mounts to stake pockets in other trucks (on top of bed rails rather than also clamping onto them). The mounting on the Ranger must be a bit different / more involved given we don't have open stake pockets, but this could be a good solution that I'm looking into.
