Hey all,

Has anyone reset their transmission’s adaptive learning via Forscan?

Thinking about doing it to see if it resolves any of the clunky shifting. I drained and filled my fluid (no new filter) about 2.5k miles ago at 56.5k miles and it’s still got that clunky shifting.

Any advice is appreciated.

I just picked up a 2021 a few weeks ago. I had that random clunky shifting. I still need to change the fluid and all but I did reset the adaptive transmission. Naturally it was super hard and rough when I first drove it but it has smooth out quite a bit. Every so often I still have a random hard shift here and there but for 98% of the time it's been smooth.

I have not reset it using Forscan but have reset more than once using my Livernois tuner.

You definitely know it changes.

Well, I can't find my own post on this exact thing,
but here is what I did. Thank you TJC.

I did the top 3 items, and did not do #4 'resume adaptive learning'.
Over a year later, adaptive learning is still disabled and I still like it that way.

If you suspect the adaptive tables might be corrupted, you only need to do line 2,
"Clear Transmission Adaptive Tables"
Your Ranger will continue the learning process, but from the new truck point.

edit: fixed "need to need to"

Thanks! I think I may replace the DPFE sensor (as it seems to be a common issue) first to see if that helps before doing any Forscan stuff.

I just looked up a video on YouTube on how to replace the sensor and it looks pretty simple. However, he did say that his truck was throwing a code—can I replace even though there’s no code?

Did you change the sensor on your truck?
I did not but have done a lot of research on it. My 22 only has 27,000 miles on it. It causes all sorts of weird problems before it throws a code. Cheap and easy starting point.
