I have a similar situation with the 3rd to 4th shift. Reduced power and sometimes stutters before 4th. Like it's trying to decide if it wants to shift. A noticeable lurch at times on the shift, more with a cooler engine.
5th isn't so bad.
I was just testing right now, again after work.
I do reverse backup, stop, shift to drive and get on gas right away. Truck actually starts to roll back, w/o power. Then a 1-2 seconds latter kicks forward.
After going forward I stopped, shift to reverse and get on gas right away. Truck does...
I was testing shift P to D and R to D and the delay in accelerating after shifting.
There is a very noticeable delay in R to D and having the gas work vs P to D and having the gas work.
It doesn't seem normal for the R to D.
I had the TSB done for that. It didn't change that rough shift from R to D.
@P. A. Schilke I will give that test a go and see if I can determine anything. Thanks
Sorry about not including, but is 4x2. That definitely sounds like it might be a source. The lurch does feel like something is unwinding and not gracefully, it takes 3-4 seconds before drive is usable also.
Yes. If i reverse for a bit come to complete stop, even wait, shift back to drive, keeping brake fully pressed. The vehicle rocks which doesn't seem like it should. This shift seems to take a long time too.
If I shift from P to drive don't feel anything. But after using reverse a bit, then...
If I put into R and backup some, then stop and shift to D. I can feel the whole truck moving. Is this normal? Anyone else notice a lurch when shifting back to drive?
It happens often, but every so often it seems to go smooth.
I was curious about this too. My truck had the PCM reset per the TSB, it has never shifted great. I am getting close to 1k on it since the PCM was updated and reset.
I still get some hard 3 to 4 shifts...completely jumps 2.
Some of the shifting feels like going backwards before a bit of a kick...
That's basically what the tech at my dealership said. I still feel like it could be reduced...or I just got unlucky and got an injector that was a little noisier than most, but still within spec.
It's a little like having this guy coming from under my hood:
I have a lean in mine too. I will try the string test and let you know what I show.
It is aggravating, once I noticed the lean....I ONLY notice the lean!
I have the buzz too. Had it since day 1 and now just over 1k still there.
Very apparent on cold engine after starting in the morning.
With engine startup you get blower fan going, which kinda covers buzz
After fan calms the f down the buzz is apparent
Without A/C or radio buzz is very...
Yea my truck has a noise like what I say is a little weed whacker in the background. A/C blasting or music going can't really hear. But low A/C can hear. I have to take in for other issue, will have them check out the direct injection pump.
