Dealer is lying entirely. I'm at 2300 miles or so, and have been getting 22MPG on the dash from almost day one (4x4 FX4 in Michigan where the Auto Start Stop doesn't like to work at all)... It takes a little discipline, so if you have a heavy foot, you'll never see even close to the stated mileage. Slow and steady on the gas is much more efficient than quick "stabs" at the throttle. Try using the adaptive cruise a lot after resetting and see if you get close to 21-22. If you don't, then you can tell the dealer that something is definitely wrong.

I have a 4X2 and l am getting 15.9mpg. Dealer Said I won’t see the stated mileage till 5000 miles. I am using a calculator to get my figures. I guess he figures I will loose my interest by then.
My MKC (2.0L EcoBoost) was getting lousy mileage and it's been getting better. At 2K miles I'm getting 20.7 average.Up from 16.2. I expect another mile or two increase as I put more miles on it.

Took delivery of my Ranger on Friday. We drove to Cumming, GA north of Atlanta for the weekend. Traffic screamed along at the normal busy pace of 75 mph on Interstate 75. We averaged 23.8 mpg for the 5 hour drive north. Saw the mpg hit 26 mpg for a brief time coming home, but it steadied out at 24.5. No complaints form me at all. Love the adaptive cruise control!

Short trips, or longer trips? I'd have to actively beat my truck to go that low for an Average. Last tank hand calculated to 21.5... 4x4 FX4 Crew.

I'm driving mostly city with short spurts of 55Mph country highway. Most of my drive is stop and go though.

It seems you either get great MPG or terrible, and there are few people in the middle.

Kind of MPG related, any chance you think they will make a bigger tank we can put on them?

I have a little over 1,000 miles on the truck now and have averaged 23.5 on trip meter 2 for that many miles. I use trip meter 1 to check each tank and I also do a manual calculation at the pump. My manual calculations are pretty much spot on with the trip meter. Had one tank that was off .3 mpg lower for manual than the trip meter average. Guess I got a Ranger that jives with the EPA numbers versus all the variables people are reporting. So I'm not complaining. :like:

I do use cruise a lot since I live 20 miles from work and drive on the Interstate at 70 mph. My trips to the Gulf are about 140 miles round trip and on rural roads at 60 mph. Being in south Georgia and making trips to the Gulf to fish, the landscape is mostly flat with some hills and our weather rarely gets to freezing levels. When I checked my tire pressure picking the truck up the tires were at 35 psi. Left them there as the ride is fine for me.

I emailed some AUS company building extended range tanks for the diesel ranger, they never replied. Since overlanding in the USA is not a real huge passtime, I doubt there will be many options available locally.

That said, you could probably import one from Australia, but it will be extremely expensive due to it's size and shape.

I get around 19.5 after 600 miles. But ... and this is a big one, I have found I can't drive this truck like I did my 2005 3.0L Ranger. It's throttle is touchy, Compare it to the old 4 barrel carbs, keep the back two closed using only the front two and you got good gas mileage, open all four barrels and drive from gas station to gas station. watch your RPM's and see what happens.

It is amazing to me to watch the RPM's and gear selection (push the "+" button to see transmission gear selection). I go down a country road at 45mpg and the tach is showing less than 1500 RPM and 9th or 10th gear. This engine is a torque monster. Get on the highway and open it up to 70 and it's still in 10th gear at 1700-1800 RPM. It's got to be pretty gas miserly under these conditions. But I'm not even looking at mileage yet until I get at least a 1000mi on my truck.

Agree with you on the low RPMs. Amazing how low they are compared to my F-150 I got out of. No strain on the powertrain at all and it still zips along with little effort. :)
