I haven't seen any posts on facebook or here yet that there is now an option in your truck settings to uncheck your "Automatic Engine Off".

I guess I can give my kid back his night light that I have had plugged in to the back outlet of the truck to prevent the automatic stop/start...

That option is NOT for Auto Stop/Start. It is for the timeout when the vehicle is left idling (such as when doing a Sync update).

Ugh, False alarm then... I had never seen that option before so I thought they had added the option finally. So, what does it do? Shut off the engine after 15 minutes or something if I leave it running? I didn't see any option for length of time.

Also, are you saying you need to keep your truck idling to update sync? I thought it just updated sitting in my driveway with automatic updates?

Just the button on the console, or, just hit the tow/haul button or put it in Sport mode.....both will negate the stop/start function.
Sadly, you must do this everytime you restart the truck.

So glad I had the option to delete ASS when I placed my order. Perfect acronym for it as well
I didn't know that was an option, I got mine second hand. Did they do that for all model years? What is different that it doesn't have it? Is it that they just deactivate it, like what one could do with Forscan?

It will 'eventually update' automatically*, but it takes a while to download so it may take several parking events for it to get all the data. I have always just updated manually using syncupdater from cyan labs. *Some people get it to work, but others not.

If you ordered the truck, there was the option to delete the ASS.... It may also have been during covid when chip supply was low and they were trying to limit parts usage. Or, it was just an option, I'm not sure. My wife ordered a new Volvo during that time, and some of the stuff was just omited without option, like the wireless phone chargers, etc.

Here's a thread about disabling ASS with forscan.

Or plug a night light into rear seat power or Forscan it out as many do

Mines a 23 and I ordered it during the Covid days when there were chip shortages. Ford offered a $50 credit (along with the wifi hotspot, don't remember the credit $$ though) if you chose not to have ASS. Hell, I would have paid an extra $50 to not have it, so bonus for getting a credit.

Personally I don't mind ASS, except when it's only off for 5 seconds when a light changes, then not so much. It goes off for 1.5-2 minutes and then will start back up. I don't know the duration, but sometimes at a long light it starts back up before the light changes.

My truck is a 2023 and it was taken off by the dealer because the window sticker on the truck said it had been taken off. Infact all the 2023 rangers I saw had it removed from them.

disconnect the small plug from the battery. put tape over it for corrosion. the small connector is the start/stop. just unplug it. no more start stop. just dash indicator but inop.

I bought mine used but Roush eliminated the ASS. Thank God they did. I drove my mother's Ford Escape with the ASS and Lane Keeping Assist (LKA ?) on. It SUCKED. I felt like somebody else was driving and I was sitting on their lap. I only leave the ACC on cuz I'm lazy. They can scrap the rest of that stuff.

My ASS would only disable if I hit the button after each start. Recently, I hit that button after a start and ASS has been off ever since. I have no idea why that happened. I checked the battery level, checked for codes, nothing is plugged into outlets, no tow mode, etc. I have no idea why it stopped working but I am happy about it. I also noted about 1.5 MPG increase, but that may be attributable to change in seasonal gas formulations and daily route differences seasonally (we hike different trails as temps rise). I just hope it stays off.

I think most turners get rid of this if you want them to. I have 5 star tuning and they ask if you want it disabled.
