Ok, I went down the rabbit hole of looking at the Ranger Raptor videos so now I am getting all kinds of 2024 Ranger videos in my YouTube feed. Looks aside, I feel like the price is a large jump year over year or am I just getting old? lol The Raptor is the only one that I feel is priced accordingly but dealer will ruin that with markups.

I was pretty surprised when I saw a 2024 2WD Lariat for MSRP $46k today at the dealer. That was nearly what a 2021-23 Ranger Lariat Tremor was going for? Lariat FX4 is $50k? These are not even with the v6 engine options.

That and I am not a fan of the front end, I keep seeing a big Maverick from the front rather than a small F150. I consider the Raptor front end okay looking but still get those vibes from it.

In a way I am glad I feel this way because I have zero feeling of upgrading. It is making me want to do some mods I was holding out on.

Am I alone on this or just biased?

Nope, not just you. Everything is more expensive, but trucks are the worst.

Tack on top of that Farley narrowing down the amount of build options and it has knocked me completely out of the market.

I'd planned to trade the Ranger in on a PowerBoost F150 (Or hybrid Ranger, but hell might freeze over before then) but the PowerBoost is now 4WD only and I don't want it.

The prices are actually not that crazy if you think about inflation.

I paid $33,200 for an XLT 2WD 302A Towing Tech etc in Feb 2021 (Had some dealer discounts)

Today that same amount of money is worth between $38.5-40.2K according to the inflation calculator. Inflation Calc

A brand new configured one in as similar condition as I can get is MSRP $41,350. So with any rebates it would be just about the 'same' price as what I paid, and the new model is a lot fancier inside. I don't actually care for the fancier, just making an objective comment.

No you're not alone! I had my name in at two different dealers for a Ranger Raptor which like you said is the only good looking model and priced reasonably. After getting my Tremor free and clear (thanks to my accident with my '19) it didn't make any financial sense to pursue the Raptor any longer. Yes it has some cool options but did I really need them? ?...No

Supposedly they were going to be at msrp but we all know the slimy tricks dealers are playing when they arrive so I wasn't holding my breath on that. I ended up adding a 10/100K extended warranty to mine back in December and plan on keeping this one for a while. And yes, the front end on the '24 is butt ugly!! ?:puke:

Ford has rearranged and limited the option packages content. I ordered mine in March 2021 It is an XL STX w/ STX Special Edition pkg. I have such things as dual air, 8" screen and FX4; all not available on an XL anymore. Aside from the fact that you can't get a SuperCab, you have to move up to an XLT High or or higher to get those options.

Yah, not just you. =(

Original 2022 Soupie was $28,520 ($26,020 after rebates) and only had 101A, carpet interior, and tow package added:

I looked at what a new Soupie would cost and, first of all, as a total no go is no Race Red!!! WTF!
And, of course, like many of us here, no SCAB. =(
Then, for me, no steelies, what a bummer but that can be remedied.

When I build on the Ford site, I get only this for Soupie's old price (but this is accurate with all the decontented stuff Soupie was missing):

The closest I can get to the no-frills build that is Soupie is $35,450 (includes destination charges). Now this doesn't include any incentives and it seems that none are available now. I had $2,500 in total rebates in Soupie's price and 0.9% financing for 36 months.

The 2024 price has 7% for 36 months!!! =(

This makes a difference of $9,430 more for a 2-year newer Ranger. That's close to what I've added as bolt-ons and mods. =p

That's 36% more than Soupie's price! Plus the added cost of the higher loan rate, especially if I matched the $6K down payment (financing $29,450 at 7% vs. $20,020 at 0.9%).

Wholly Crap!

Update: I used your nifty inflation calculator @Fazzie01 and got this for what Soupie's 2022 price ($26,020) would be in today's dollars: $27,877.60

When I look at build and price, the bottom of the barrel is XL at 32,720.
Then I look at the base XLT at 36,160, but it's a 7,520 jump to base Lariat.
Raptors prices are ridiculous starting at 55,620, but will probably have a 10K ADM on top of that.

But what really sucks in the options, is that if you want the 2.7 V6, you have to jump to XLT with 4x4, so that alone will add 5,180. And I see destination charges are up at 1,595.

Bolt a chair to that bare drivetrain and I bet a fair number of us would be interested! Changing that oil filter looks like a cinch now

The 6G front end does look more like a big Maverick than a small F-150. I only like the Raptor front end.

A 2024 with similar features to my 2021 (Lariat FX4 with most everything) is $8k MSRP more than my 2021. Granted you get some new features and updates, but that is about 15-20% higher MSRP over three model years ?

I'll eventually get one (or possibly an F-150) when my current Ranger is likely around 75k-100k miles. By then the appearance should have grown on me.

well ford really dont want us buying any more fords... between the prices, ugly looks, and amazing dealer network - they accomplished the goal for me lol. when my 5g bites the dust i may have to get a dang nissian. i still have a gm grudge. dodge dont have a cool midsize, refuse to be a toyota dingle berry, that pretty much covers it. unless mitsu brings a truck back to the states..

I prefer the look and individuality of the 5g significantly over the 6g. I don't know why ford thinks everything they make has to look the same. I would think diversity in design would potentially bring in more customers than branding the same look on everything. What about those that don't care for your one look.

I did a build and price to replace my 2019 with a 2024. To get approximately the same truck would run about $5,000 more. Not gonna happen so the 2019 Lightning Blue will stay. I will be dropping it off at the dealer tomorrow for the TSB on the transmission CDF drum update. My service writer was very open to this when I showed him a printout of the TSB and he asked the transmission guy about it. He said bring it in tomorrow.

Plus dealer markup, add another 10k-15K. Yeah definitely huge price difference. I got mine in 2020 when no one is buying due to the pandemic, Ford gave me 0APR plus huge discount.
