I am picking up my 2021 today.

Has anyone heard of this? Ford supposedly started an incentive for $3750 off with a trade in. I had no intention on trading anything in for it, but the dealer is suggesting trade in something and then immediately buy it back to get the incentive. I’d only be out title fees of $250. Seems logical, but weird. What says you?

That does sound weird but intriguing. I might have to try that myself.

Will he sell you back your trade-in at the same price he gave you? If so, what the heck. If you need something new it seems like a deal.

That’s how I understand it.

We traded in a 2016 Ford escape towards a new 2020 HPP Mustang and the KBB said it was worth $6 K last year and $12,750 a few weeks ago so we bought the left over 2020 stick shift Mustang EcoBoost with every imaginable extra for 20% off MSRP and $13+K trade in with a 2.9% loan. So yes with the shortage of used vehicles and low interest anything is possible these days.

Dealerships have low inventory of used cars right now. This is obviously aimed at helping that.

Seems like a lot of hassle, but $3750 will knock your payment down by roughly $62. Instead of the hassle why not buy some $250 shitbox off of Craigslist to trade in?

Is this incentive listed on Ford’s website somewhere?

I think I'd be wary of a dealer that encouraged me to slick the system like that.
Is this an indication of how he runs the whole dealership?
Thanks, but no.

What would be in it for the dealer, unless they resell your vehicle back to you for more than they buy it for? Doesn‘t make any sense to me. Plus transferring title back and forth, etc. seems like a headache and Murphy’s Law is likely in play here.

pretty sure Ford pays for these incentives and this dealer is working the system to help the customer? Still seems weird.

Must be some weird stuff going on in the used car market right now as we just got a carvana trade in offer on my fiancé’s car for the same price as I could a similar one for at the dealer. We’re taking that deal lol
