Hi all, I’m in the process of deciding which tires I want to go with in a few months when it’s time to replace my tenors factory Grabbers.

I know I want a taller tire, and my two main choices at the moment are a 34x10.5 and 285/75/17. My top choice for both at the moment is a toyo open country at3.

The 34x10.5 has a true diameter and with of 33.5 and 10.6 according to their website, and the 285/75 is 33.9 inches tall and 11.3 wide.

My tremor does have an 2 inch level on the front, as well as an aftermarket bumper that removed the front crash bars. I know at a minimum I’ll have to remove the rear crash bars. Does anyone have any idea how they’ll fit? Any experience with how much more needs to be done beyond the crash bars with that size?

Thanks

including the most recent pic of my truck for those of you who enjoy matching vehicles

Nice truck! I’ve been running the Toyo at3 285/75r17 for 50k miles now. I have the icon stage 5 lift. With it set to ~3.25” lift up front. I get the tiniest amount of rub going in reverse at some angles, but that’s it. Rear crash bars are still installed, fronts are removed with the stock bumper. The biggest part in getting the tires to fit is the right wheel offset (~25mm) and having an aftermarket UCA with increased caster. My caster is set to 3.9, I think the stock is 2.7.

Without an aftermarket UCA and using stock wheels, you may need to cut the rear crash bars out. Not sure on the amount of trimming. I’m not sure if going to the skinnier 34x10 tires will help here either. Good luck!

Where are you seeing a 34x10.5 ATIII?
BFG makes a 34 all terrain that's 11 inches wide 17" wheel. That's what I'm running on my LJ.

I ran those on my first Ranger, great tires. They're D, curious what spec these Toyos are, what they weigh, and how they measure out (the BFGs are 33s, despite the name).

Thanks for the info! I’ve got the stock tremor wheels with 1.5” spacers so effectively running a +4 offset currently. I have new upper control arms, but I haven’t installed them yet.

whenever the time comes I’ll post some more pictures when the setup is done.

Link or image of full specs? It's not on Toyos site.
the specs are listed on the tire page on Toyo website, just gotta select the drop down menu for the 17” info and scroll until you find both sizes.

they’re D as well, but quite a bit less expensive than the BFG 34x11 option. It would be closer to a true 33, as it’s measured at 33.5” compared to the 33.9 of the 285/75/17
I'd go for those then. You'll see slightly better ride quality from the lower weight rating, and the weight and width advantage will save you some fuel. Narrow tires actually grip better off road too.

As for crash bars, just pull them off.

They're closer to a real 33 than a 33" tire, don't know why they can't just say the real size instead of rounding up by a half inch or more.

I have Toyo at3 285/75r17 in load E and I will say that the ride is rough at slow speeds. I’d highly suggest sticking to C or D load with toyo. I’m actually getting the 285/75r17 in load C installed this weekend, will report back ride quality difference.

How’s the ride quality difference?
