Good Morning!

I know this is a silly question, but I like to be prepared for anything.

I knew my 2019 Ranger Lariat looked a bit more beefy than some of the other trucks I have seen, and my suspicion was correct.

It looks like the Dealer? Previous Owner? Installed fairly new 265/70r18 National Commando HTS tires on the truck. I did not even notice at the dealership, I thought these trucks looked that way from the factory.

•I am curious to know from you guys if there are any problems I could run in to. Could the gears get jacked up, what PSI do I probably need to run, do I need a new spare, etc. I do not notice any rubbing, so maybe I got lucky?

I am not completely clueless, but I am a novice when it comes to wheels and tires.
(Ex. I know the new tires are taller than stock tires, and I probably have some speedometer error now)?

@NedKelly looks like you did something similar. Maybe you could chime in too? What PSI do you run, factory?

Did you pick it up from a Ford dealership? If so I would expect them to properly adjust the Speedo to the new tire sizes and such. Find one of those Highway radar signs and drive by it a few times. Given the +-3mph with radar

Yeah I did. The kicker is they did not even bother to fix the open recall(taillights) so I do not know if I have that much faith.. I will drive by one going to work tomorrow.

Is it accurate enough comparing Waze to my Digital Speedo in the truck? On my Civic Si it was dead-on.

I guess my biggest fear is I always go 77-80 on the interstate by the house, and if I am really going 82-85..??

So the tire shop I had install my tires said factory PSI always no matter if you plus size or not. I was skeptical so I found a website, plugged my OEM specs in and my new tire size and it made a suggestion of 35psi compared to the factory 30psi. I have no complaints with the 35psi. It doesn't bounce/float like overinflated tires. I could definitely tell that I was going faster than my speedo read just by feel (I know, it ain't scientific, but still) so instead of doing 4 over no matter where I went I do the speed limit and it still feels fast. I have a lift kit on the way and there will be a tuner coming around the same time to help with a few extra ponies, torque, the transmission, and the speedo correction.

Performance takes a slight hit but
Definitely looks better with larger tires and
My fuel economy hasn’t changed.
The stock 265/60R18 size tire stands roughly 30.52" tall, and the 265/70R18 stands roughly 32.61"tall, so acceleration, and fuel economy will take a hit. The taller sidewall may deliver a smoother ride, and the higher load index (116T vs 110T) will potentially have better stability at a slightly higher air pressure.

The only down side in my opinion is the hit to fuel economy. No harm really in the taller tire IMO.

I still hit an average of 23.5mpg doing mostly highway. So far no issues running this size on my Ranger. I occasionally will scrub on the driver crash bar if I take a super sharp turn, but that is it.

I took @Discount Tire advice when I initially started this thread and have been running 35 psi.

I’m running Michelin’s on mine at 39psi. 1” wheel spacers and leveled, 2wd. Fuel economy wasn’t affected, noticed no difference in performance.
No issues.
I run the same PSI helps reduce outside
Tire wear and feathering

The only thing you have to be concerned about is those tires.

I'd replace them ASAP.

Why’s that? They have a 2049 Date Code (2 1/2 years old) and still have 6/32” tread left.

Those are generic garbage IMHO. Tires are one of the most important things on a vehicle. They are your only point of contact with the road. Good tires make all the difference in the world from a performance standpoint.

Those are not good tires. They are the cheapest thing available in that size besides maybe a Ling Long.

I'd get rid of them real quick.
