According to my Ford Premium Care ESP:

5e Covered Items: "LeaseCare"
If you selected "LeaseCare", you have "PremiumCare" coverage with Wear Items.

7s All wear items are excluded, except when "LeaseCare" is selected.

FYI, batteries and cables are not covered either.

I have a 2019 with about 29k miles on it - Brakes are awfully squeaky now, I figure it's just pads, getting it checked in the next couple of weeks ...

Well, I just got the call from the dealer... Almost a week later they finally got to look at my truck.

Looks like the slides on the rear calipers are seized and pushing the rear pads into the rotor nonstop. I told them a few days ago, that I'm willing to pay for the new pads since it is a worn item, but that they need to look into X, Y, and Z on why the brake parts that control the pads are not working.

But with that said the rear rotors "should" be replaced as well. So all in all, the dealer wants to replace the pads on all 4 corners, the rotors on all 4 corners, and also replace the rear calipers on both sides.

Parts and labor - $2,000 for a truck I have only owned for 2 1/2 months.

I told him that was absolutely not an option and I would get my truck in a few days.

Also, not sure why new calipers are needed when they could just replace the slides and make sure they are lubed up properly this time. But looks like I will be getting my truck back, not going back to that dealership, getting some new aftermarket rotors and pads, and swapping those on at my buddy's shop that informed me of the brake pad issue from the start.

I also plan to talk to the tech and see if he knew about the money that the service guy told him he would get. and then i will talk to Ford Customer Service about the paying up front.

The only reason you would consider replacing the calipers is if they got severely heated and are damn near impossible to compress the piston. It's not often that I have ran into this but I've only ran into it on remanufactured calipers from a particular brand known as A1 cardone. As for the pads and rotors I would definitely replace the rear pads and rotors. After getting the sliders unstuck chances are you'd probably be okay

Well, things definitely just changed...

The service guy called and informed me that the extended warranty company decided to cover the rear caliper replacement. This also includes the labor.

So pretty much all I would need to pay for would be the new rear rotors and the new rear pads.

He also told me that the front rotors and pads are pitted and that is why he suggested them being replaced, I'm not too worried about that. And the front pads have more than 4mm left on them so i should be okay there for now until i decide to upgrade to newer or better pads.

Still crazy that 30 mins ago they wanted $2,000 and now it can be less than $500

They realized you weren't going for it so they found someone that would! They'll still get the full amount!

this sounds a lot like the issue mine has. mechanic told me rear calipers was dragging esp right side. toasted the rotor, pads etc. i have a feeling this would be a tsb fix if the 5g was going to have a longer run.

If the $500 for pads and rotors on all 4, I'd jump on that deal. But still seems a little high for just one axle. I'd have them replace the calipers, then do the rotors and pads myself, all 4 for about $500.

I'm waiting to hear what comes from the money up front part of this!!!! It'd be hilarious if the tech knew nothing of the advisors ask for money up front! HAHAHA

Frenchy or anybody else - I noticed rear rotors were backordered for a while. Any idea if the part # changed? Mine are warped at 20k and I was hoping they improved them. If not I would probably go aftermarket.

I got the call from the guy i have been in touch with, now he is seeing if maybe he can get it all covered now.

"I reviewed the situation with my boss and he said is for rolling the dice on it. Worst comes to worst, Ford esp will charge us back then I charge the used car department. Used car manager also advised he is willing to help out but wants the final bill first."

then yesterday i got a "2-3 days ETA on parts"

So we'll see what happens, i really am missing the truck, but at least i have a rental right now, but a Ford Escape is not what i love to drive. ?

I saw your most recent update, but wanted to touch on this. If the rear calipers have failed, that failed part caused the excessive wear on the pads and rotors. It should be fully covered by warranty.

Before they start any work, be sure to get in writing what is covered under warranty, lest they come back after the work is done and stick you with the bill because warranty was denied.

Well, as of last Thursday, they had my rotors in and accidentally sold them to someone else.

So to compensate they got my a new F-150 Tremor. ?‍♂ Better than the new Escape they had me driving for about a month.

but from what i was told when i talked to them in person to get the new rental, they would have my truck fixed today and that "everything will be covered and ready to get on Friday, but i can keep the rental over the weekend and enjoy it"

I'm just absolutely ready to have mt Ranger back and have it stop like it should...finally.

So, what i've been told, they replaced the rear slides on the calipers for the rear since the calipers are on back order. they replaced all 4 rotors, and the pads in the rear and also covered all the labor.

We'll see what they actually do in the end and if they make this right or if they plan to screw me over somehow.
