Ever since I bought my truck on rare occurrences I hit the gas and there’s a delay in response. Not ideal in certain situations.

The odd morning starting the truck it would slightly buck like it was in gear for a split second.

Didn’t bother bringing it in because it was so sporadic. Sometimes a week or so in between. Figured I’d get the run around.

Fastforward..

Month ago. I trailered a small atv a few hours on a main freeway.. shifting seemed more sluggish or something felt off. Drove home with the trailer empty and truck still didn’t seem right.

Last week I drove across the street in the morning, when I was in the parking lot I gave it a bit of gas and the rpms shot up revved the engine then dropped into gear.

Called Ford last Thursday and asked for an appointment preferably with a transmission specialist.

Dropped the truck off lastnight.

Got the call today. CDF Drum, full overhaul.
Ordering parts today. Should be here Friday hopefully fixed Monday. Tuesday at the latest.
Told them not to rush. Just happy they are overhauling it.
I’m around 35k only 3 MONTHS of warranty left:please:?.

Ordered the truck from factory. 2022 Ranger XLT Scab.

You are right. That’s even better. I thought power-train was only 3 years too. :)

Was built mid June/22

Damn, Ive got the same year and model. Both of us bought just before the CDF drum issue was over, 9/22 I think it was. No transmission problems here yet but I'm pricing the Ford PremiumCare warranty now... I just don't trust it. There should be a recall or extended warranties on all transmissions before 9/22. I checked the ATF level today, it was full and looked like new.

Mine is in the same build date zone, I'm at 28K no problems so far but mine is tuned by Unleashed. Shifts great with an occasional hiccup. I have a sonnax zip kit and a ppe deep pan ready to go on the day it hits 60k. And hope for the best. If it fails I'll have it rebuilt with upgraded parts.

“Occasional hiccup “ is what I had and it was subtle. New transmission under warranty.

as things are slowly warming up a bit, my truck is way more sluggish after starting (and letting it idle a good bit) and running the a/c.

i actually called my local dealer who has typically always been fantastic for me. i asked about the latest TSB and he said ford corporate says they're not allowed to discuss the contents of TSBs with customers. i told him the new TSB goes straight into a CDF test instead of trying to flash ECUs and crap. he told me if they drove it and the transmission was fine they wouldn't even enter into the TSB.

doesn't do me any good since these transmissions are so sporadic and quirky.

glad you got quick resolution OP... for me, i think i gotta wait for the transmission to explode first.

Ask them how much it would cost you to do the test prescribed in the TSB ( .7 hours). And if it tested ok then you would pay. But if it doesn’t then it would be warranty.
I would still make them test drive it and if they say it’s fine then tell them you want it tested.

this is a good idea to pay for the TSB test. The test drive will ring up the diagnostic test fee since my warranty is a CPO warranty. So it’s like $150 or $200 just to have them drive it. That ain’t worth it cuz I already know what they’ll say. We all know lol

You have to get them to drive it in the morning cold and not let the vehicle warm up. When I first brought it in they couldn't replicate symptoms so I told them to keep it over night and drive it in the morning with no warm up and sure enough the rough shifting presented.

I dropped mine off the night before so they could test it cold too.
